Tiago Fernandes fell to #5 right before the juniors started at Roland Garros by not playing Santa Croce in Italy where he was the defending champion.
Was it a good decision? I think so. He was coming off playing a few futures in Brazil where he had pretty decent results (QF at the Brazil F7 and SF at the Brazil F4).
In his first round match, he torched Sebastian Lavie 6-4, 6-1. If he can get past Oliver Golding, whom he lost to in the Orange Bowl last year, then he'll play the winner of Nick Chappell and Roberto Quiroz/Mate Zsiga.
Vamos Tiago!
