Following a huge upset, Federer's ranking will now slide down to 6th in the world and what can he do to save it because if Tsitsipas and Coric start making the semi-finals which is quite possible, they're definitely going to start knocking on the door of some of the top 10 players and when do you think Federer might start dropping out of the top 10 or will he manage to stay in it with his rumoured clay court appearance this year which would definitely give him some stability. Also who do you think is going to get a good rise up in the top rankings or just top 100 like Popyrin or Bautista into the top 15 or Coric and Tsitsipas making top 10? He’s still gonna be a top ten player this year, if he wants to be. He’ll just have to play more often. If he’s losing more often then he should play more tournaments

He's playing the clay season so he should be able to get points.

Truth be told, Roger has barely played at top 20 level for the past 6 months. He should still be happy to be ranked as high as #6.

Federer has already won 1800 points after the US Open and he is still playing on a very high level. Barring injury, he won't drop out of the top 10 any time near.

The whole downfall started with the loss vs. Anderson. It cost him almost all of his confidence on important points. He relies on pushing since then because he’s not trusting his attacking forehand anymore.

It’s like a self-fulfilling prophecy. He thinks he can’t hit it well anymore and makes error after error because he lacks belief.
Maybe playing on slower clay can help him find his confidence in groundstrokes again

Might still finish top 5, especially with Del Potro out

#6 is decent considering the circumstances. QF best slam result in past 52 weeks.

Cilic is #10 on live rankings.

He'll drop to a ranking where he deserves quite frankly but he'll break Agassi's 'Most weeks in the Top 100' in the upcoming months and pass both Jimmy & Agassi's 'Most years ranked in the Top 10'

Don't care about his ranking regardless apart from that.

I say the downfall started after the Del Potro Indian wells final defeat. He failed to convert two match points in that match and since then, he has been terrible in big moments and tight matches. So many tight sets and matches lost since then. He has zero confidence in his game right now.

As usual guys, please support our very own Slashers' live ranking's site Open Era Rankings, thanks. :)

Yeah, he's back to outside the Top 5 after the Australian Open. Low-key people are not aware of it I think, especially he just got back to #1 last year in Rotterdam. Other big news is that Cilic is currently Live #10 which is interesting considering he had a good start of last year -- it really went downhill for him after Queen's Club. If Fed plays on clay he can probably get back to Top 3-4 at some time.

Might even drop down to 12 if Tsitsipas and Coric make a run to the semis

Yeah I'd probably agree with that since he had a great AO and not the most impressive draw at Rotterdam but the Indian Wells really stuck it to him.

This was inevatable. The hooneymoon is over. Hes been nº1 due to his slams, and those came when Nole and Rafa took a step down.
He will play clay, but that doesnt mean more points. It means more losses. And those they a hit in the ego.

Even when Del Potro and Kandy is out he is still behind .

He could finish the year out top10

It's good you've started coping with inevitable Kei's bendover in advance.
