Well it's about time. He is AFTERALL the GOAT especially on GRASS.
NADAL has achieved this feat 3 times on clay.
FRENCH OPEN 9 TIMES
BARCELONA 8 TIMES
MONTE CARLO 8 TIMES.
That's what I call AMAZING!

Meh, nice and all but not really that interesting of a stat in my opinion. Especially on grass where there aren't many tournaments to begin with. I mean it's great and all, consistency yadayada, but I don't think he gives a rat's ass considering his other achievements.

It's not one of the bigger records, certainly, I assume few knew the record any surface before Nadal beat it last year was Guillermo Vilas' eight titles in Buenos Aires. But it's always nice to have records.
Thats true, Agassi is right. I've always had a problem with a man being considered the greatest player ever. When he isn't even the greatest of HIS ERA.
The only way you can phrase it. Is MOST SUCCESSFUL PLAYER OF ALLTIME. Of that there's no question. But when your closest rival owns you 23/10. There's a problem with you being considered BEST player of ALLTIME. There really is.

Nadal is the clay GOAT, no question about that. His game was designed to excel on clay. 81 match win streak, 9 RG.
Federer was a serve and volley player, best on grass. 65 match win streak, 9 Wimby finals, only lost 2 epic 5 setters.
They both expanded their games on other dimensions.

Why it is amazing when the clay specialist has the most titles at singel clay tournaments, but it is not when the grass specialist hold the record in grass tournaments? What's yur point here?
...oh and don't forget that Nadal is probably done while Fed can win 2 others Halle. :wavey:

In this sport, success is not define by H2H, but by winning majors, Djokovic lead 17-1 of Wawrinka, but lost in the RG final, will Wawrinka trade his RG title for the H2H? nobody will.
You can't say Nadal is the GOAT, with a guy in the same era winning more majors and have more weeks of #1. And injury is just part of Nadal 's game, playing style, not an excuse.

The point is keep it in proportion. NADAL has done it 3 times. This is a first for Federer. When Federer does does it 3 times he is on a par with Rafa.
You don't know what can happen with NADAL. Or Federer for that matter. Federer was almost beaten in the first round. And next year he is a year older and a touch weaker and slower.

He doesn't need to do it 3 more times. On grass it is more impressive especially that there is not a lot of opportunities, you play just 2 or 3 tournaments a year.
You have to learn the difference between most successful and best player. In my book if you have this guy Federer, and you say HE IS THE BEST PLAYER EVER. Then he should have healthy H2Hs against all his greatest rivals. He is about equal with DJOKOVIC. Or soon will be when they play again and he loses.
But he has been absolutely slaughtered by NADAL to almost embarrassing levels given his supposed status as GOAT. What this means is it's acceptable to say Federer is the most SUCCESSFUL PLAYER OF ALLTIME. And Grasscourt GOAT.
But UNFORTUNATELY he isn't ALROUND GOAT. Because you have NADAL THE GOD OF CLAY. And you have DJOKOVIC knocking on the door to HARDCOURT GOAT STATUS. And by the time he is done. His resume will most probably surpass Federer on HARDCOURT.
He already has more HARDCOURT MASTERS. He need 3 more slams between the AO and USO. And he is clearly the HARDCOURT GOAT. So how I see it finishing is...

Its gonna happen in the next three to four years. CAPITALS to highlight the importance of what's being as STATED OBVIOUSLY!
A surface is a surface. Winning anything 8 times is special. But NADAL has won a SLAM. 9 times and that is beyond OUTSTANDING. Imagine if you went back to 2005. And you said just before NADAL came out to play round one of that years FO. Hey see that guy over there with the cap sleeved T SHIRT and HEADBAND.
TEN YEARS FROM NOW HE WILL HAVE WON THIS 9 TIMES
They would have looked at you like you were crazy. But that's exactly what happened. It's the RECORD TO END ALL RECORDS. And until someone wins a slam 10 times in the men's game. It stands on its own. Our great grandchildren will be dead before anyone even comes close...
