haha good hes clearly still the best
than the middle of season Nadal is defending a GS win and final, Djokovic SF and SF and than USO final
If he keeps playing passive he'll be in trouble.
It's all about motivation.

He's hitting the same wall that Sampras did now. We'll see how he responds.
If Federer keeps playing like this, he's not holding the #1 spot for too much longer.
Up 53 in the first, he just played like crap for 10 games.
To me Fed is clearly fading.. Last Wimbledon final was the first indication of that.. I would not bet on him breaking Sampras's record at this point.. I think the chances of him winning a GS this year are not much higher then 50%..

50% is pretty damn high lol. You're basically saying that he won't win more than 2 slams this year.
I wouldn't write off Roger yet.
What people have to defend means nothing in terms of actually being #1 at the end of the year. If Federer is the best player then he will keep it, if not then he will fall.
And this match, he didn't play like a #1.
How many forehand UE's on big points? Federer was giving away key points.
You don't win titles doing that.
fed is far from through. the majority of the AO was too easy for him. losing only 6 games in total to hartfield and santoro made him somewhat complacent, allowing tipsareciv to take advanatage. then he had berdych and blake, a pair of muppets when it comes to playing against him. he wasnt challenged enough before the semis, so he couldnt really hit the kind of form he needs to win a GS. he'll come back with a vengence and be back to his brilliant best soon enough

Precisely. :worship:

Anyway, as IL points out, Fed should be relatively okay up until the second half of the year (unless he is inactive or something), which is when things would get interesting.
ATP might have contributed to Federers too early fading with their's tampering with the draws
