R. Federer takes revenge, defeats D. Nalbandian, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2
Best match of the tournament thus far, if I might be allowed to say so. Quality of play was exceptional from both players, especially in the first and third sets. Nalbandian's level dipped ever so slightly in the second, his forehand began to spray a bit and that was enough for Federer to take advantage. Aggressive clay court tennis from two very versatile all court players. Nalbandian's backhand was on fire, which is to be expected; Federer's was almost equal to the task, which is a surprise. Both served excellently. Federer converted breakpoints efficiently, a good sign for him.
I don't think I've ever seen Federer move better on clay and also, his tactics were spot on and he stuck with them, even after losing a tough first set. It seems the work with Higueras might actually be paying off.
