And that's how it's done. Federer looked sharp as a tack out there today and though he couldn't break the solid Karlovic serve he was at 15 and 30 in most games and dominant in the tiebreaks, while Ivo was nowhere near breaking for the entire match.

Some lovely volleying from Roger, the serve stats are unreal

85% first serves
91% first serve points won
80% second serve points won.

Mightily impressive. I remember how sluggish he was right through Toronto last year. No fear here - that was dammin good.

Fed beats Karlovic 7-6 7-6

Solid match from Fed in some very windy conditions. On to the next round.:drive:

It's unclear to me why Ivo stayed back on his 2nd serve. It's the points there that made him lose the match.

Not a single breakpoint, when was the last time this happened in a Federer match ?

Some of Karlovic's ground strokes really were awful :help:

But good job Fed, see you in the final :wavey:

Why are people so impressed with the serve stats - he was playing Ivo after all.

BTW according to the real stats he served at 68%.
