From IB Times:

"Federer's agent Tony Godsick revealed to The New York Times that the Swiss athlete is still expected to take part in the French Open tournament, which will be kick off on May 25, if the newborns are in perfect health. "Assuming that everything goes well and the kids are healthy and Mirka is doing well, he has every intention of playing Roland Garros," Godsick said. Federer's agent, however, said that it is uncertain if the Swiss athlete, who currently ranks number 4, will participate in any tournament before the Roland Garros or what is otherwise known as the French Open. Godsick said that only "time will tell."

"He is training and he hasn't missed a beat in training," Godsick added."

Don't see that Roger has withdrawn from Rome yet, might have missed it.

Bob, were you really concerned that he wouldn't play in a slam? Mirka's slavic ancestors have given birth in fields and found time to finish the day's chores. She, the nannies, and Pablo the gardener have everything under control. Fed has more than 3 weeks to get ready, more than enough time to get over his post-birth breast sensitivity. No excuses...Man up.

Unless there's a complication with one of the boys or Mirka as Godsick explained. As his agent said, "Time will tell" plus left open the question of prelim tourneys to the FO.

Yeah, you already said that. Death / serious illness / other calamities preclude most people from engaging in their vocations but haven't they already said that all 3 are healthy? It just seems to me that the drama has been upped to 2009 wimbledon final levels--you know, the theatrics...which mesmerized Roddick.

He has NOT withdrawn from Rome.
Indeed. And remember he was a finalist in 2013, lost to Nadal in the finals and so has lots of points to defend --- not to mention valuable clay tune up play needed before Roland Garros.

Given that Zurich is 438 air miles from Rome (http://www.airtimetable.com/air_mile_calculator.htm) --- so about 1-1.25 hours by private jet, it's a good bet that Fed plays Rome if all are healthy at home by the end of this week.

Heck, by jet he can withdraw from Rome and be back home in Zurich faster than anyone could navigate rush hour traffic in NYC or any other metropolis --- if a family medical need arises.

Let's hope we see him in Rome.

I think he won't play Rome.

He played MC because he knew the babies would be born in this week most probably so he wanted to get a bit of clay matches before RG.

I fully expect him to miss Rome and prepare for RG.

I hope he doesn't play Rome. He's a father and should be enjoying time with his two new children. He's not supposed to just inseminate his wife, then stop by for their graduation.
