I don't think Berdych was trying to vulture Portugal. He might've been better served by resting up for Madrid & Rome, honestly. But Portugal badly needed a top player after Stan withdrew, and nobody else was stepping up to the plate. I'm not a Berdych superfan or anything, but his choice to play was good for the tournament. And hey, the final (and the final result!) sounded like it was very popular in Oeiras. :)
