ESPN hates tennis

first, instead of live tennis last night they showed live little-league softball. then, they showed safin vs. hernych (and i'm a safin fan) which was a very poor quality match instead of showing the berdych vs. nadal match which was far superior in quality and entertainment value. just pathetic. they always show nadal when he wins a match 6-2 6-1 so why not show a match that was as exciting as this one?

anyways, i saw the berdych match live, but i'm assuming that the average tennis fan or just casual spectator does go online looking for live feeds every week

Where did you find a live feed?
I wouldn't say ESPN hates tennis just because they are showing live little league. This week is the Little League World Series. Just because they are kids doesn't mean it's not an important event.

ESPN did the other day interrupt their poker broadcast to show the Roddick match. They were not scheduled to show tennis in this time slot. I have to laugh, though, thinking of poker as a sport!

:haha:

Do you remember what E-S-P-N originially stood for? Those were the days! Table tennis (of course, we knew it as ping-pong) and judo competitions, ballroom dancing, skeet shooting, billards (before that became cool too). They'd show anything they didn't have to pay for to fill up the time spots. I think I even remember a chess match or two. My, how times have changed.

Sometimes I wish there still was a "minor" sports channel. I don't need 24/7 of tennis or golf. I would like to see the WHOLE thing though and am will to forego it being "live" in order for that to happen. Hopefully, US broadcasters will eventually see the light and invest in more interactive or on-demand style products. In the absence of that, I think this US Open Series has shown them that a reasonably consistent time slot increases viewership.

Oh well...let me get back to my regularly scheduled programming...of my computer instead of the tv schedule. .
If they had showed Nadal's match instead of Marat's no doubt somebody here would immediately jump on the "whine about ESPN" bandwagon and complain that ESPN ALWAYS shows Nadal and not other players.

Damned if they do, damned if they don't.
Sort of suprised to hear they picked Safin over Nadal.
How come i see everything but star sports on the pplive.it. I surely must be crazy :(
