(WC) Isner/Sock def. (1) Mektic/Pavic 7-6(2) 3-6 10-7
(WC) Kokkinakis/Kyrgios def. Dodig/Melo 7-5 1-6 10-2
(WC) Lopez/Tsitsipas def. Klaasen/McLachlan 7-6(5) 6-4
Delbonis/Norrie def. Behar/Escobar 6-1 6-3

And we're not even done with the first round yet!

Exposed is the exact right term.
It's insane what is happening here.

I have to be honest: I actually thought Mektiv/Pavic are really good and now it seems they just won everything because of no concurrence.

And that's why the doubles players are pissed when the singles players 'chance their arm' and play the odd doubles here & there because they are poaching on their preserve.

Exposing them is one thing but dumping them out in the 1st round of slams & Masters Series f..ks with their points and wallets....

And that makes me belly laugh ... let them improve and try and do better.

Mektic/Pavic have really struggled this year.

Besides Dubai, every other tournament have been poor.

Doubles specialists are simply not very good tennis players. Usually not even top 200 in singles. They’re successful because they work as a team and know what the other person is doing but in terms of shots and movement they can’t compete

I always thought this way about doubles players. Only exceptions in recent times are the Bryan brothers, and Mahut / Herbert.

Bryan bros because they are twins, one is lefty and one if right handed, they know each other very well of course so it was tricky to face them for any doubles pair.

Mahut and Herbert because both are/were decent in singles, and Mahut has one of the best volleys.

All the rest is just players trying to earn money because they are not good enough in singles, and tournament directors are actually not benefitting from the double tournaments (exception, maybe the slams, not even sure).

Doubles are such a waste of time, space and energy. Would rather cheer for FK Sarajevo then watch a doubles match that doesn’t include my countryman Brkić.

Love to see decent singles players expose these vultures

Agree. No one gives a shit about doubles unless well-liked singles players participate in them.
however in the hobby/amateur area (at least in my country) 80% mainly play doubles

I mean Isner/Sock won two tiebreakers and Sock is the best doubles player in the world. I don't see this match as too meaningful. As I'm sure you remember, this was the expected outcome and what the ATP wanted when they decided that doubles would be two sets and a tiebreaker. Their goal is to eliminate doubles specialists.

You are totally right.
I was more disappointed and surprised about their early AO loss.

And now your countryman just lost to Molteni and Schwartzman.
