Just a general thread to discuss tour results in 2024.

To begin with: Koolhof/Mektic defeat Haase/VDZ in Rotterdam. Great for Koolhof to win Rotterdam in his last year on tour.

What a comeback by Cash/Glasspool in the Toronto final against Salisbury/Skupski. They saved 4 MPs, including 3 consecutive ones starting at 6-9 in the final set superTB.

Unluck for Salisbury/Skupski, but it was a great tournament by them as well. They defeated the world #1s Arevalo/Pavic in 3 sets on their way to the final.

The final had a very good quality by both pairs, it was only the very crucial moments at the end of the match that turned out to be decisive. Cash/Glasspool clutched there insanely.

Cash and Glasspool are now #1 in the Live Race and are the first doubles team to qualify for the ATP Finals. They've gelled together very well as a team, winning the title in Tokyo last September in only their 2nd tournament together. They're not so good on clay but they've had a crazy good winning streak in the last 5 tournaments of this year: final in s'Hertogenbosch, followed by titles at Queens, Eastbourne, Wimbledon, and now Toronto.

It was an exciting end to yesterday's final, with some very clutch play, as @FilipoSVK said. I really wish I could get behind Cash/Glasspool more, because they were the first all-British men's doubles team to win Wimbledon in almost a century, etc. and they seem perfectly nice, but I just don't feel it for them. Fandom is a funny thing sometimes.

Here's a video clip of one of the points of the match, a winner from Cash from about as far out wide as you can imagine.

Great guy unlike Fish

Jebens remains one of the most limited doubles players I have ever seen. He is all power and nothing else. Ho is actually skilled at the net and could have a decent career, but he needs to find a good partner.

4-4 in the final set now.

Crazy results. But it's good to see Haase ditched Jebens and is now playing with Frantzen.

Arevalo/Pavic did end up winning, but even that scoreline against Hidalgo/Kadhe is embarrassing.

Frantzen/Haase saved 3 matchpoints against Heliovaara/Pattern and won (1 on Pattern serve)

Frantzen/Haase saved 2 matchpoints against Luz/Olivetti and won (1 on Olivetti serve).Olivetti missed a sitter on that matchpoint. Earlier Olivetti got broken serving for the match, couple double faults and a Haase return winner on breakpoint.

R3 Ugo Carabelli/ Etcheverry - Frantzen/Haase for a place in the quarterfinals. Big opportunity for both teams

Just watching the Schnaitter/Wallner replay. :D
Erler/Galloway played great to break for 6-5 in the 3rd.
Galloway serving for the match, 30-15, then 2 DF, then a horrible volley.
After some more double-faults from Galloway and Erler, Schnaitter/Wallner 8-2 up in the MTB.
Then Schnaitter drops both his serves but they break again for 9-5.
Then Wallner drops both of his serves, one of them with a DF and it goes to 9-9.
The Erler hits another DF, the worst of them all - several metres long.
Then Sch/W finish it off nicely.

The bottom half still has three good teams left.

I'm rooting for Granollers/Zeballos (or Frantzen/Haase) vs Bhambri/Venus. Though Vocel winning a Slam title while being ranked outside the Top 100, being too heavy for a professional athlete, and being on a losing streak with some really bad losses would be very funny.
