Re: Double and triple bagels in the last 30 years

Technically, hasn't Schuettler been double bagelled three times now? Against Gambill in Tokyo 1998, then against Soderling in WTC this year, then less than a week later he lost the first two sets against Gicquel at RG 6-0, 6-0. True, he got 4 games in the third set so the match itself wasn't a triple bagel, but it should still count.

In that case, you can also get double-bageled and win the match, which has happened once :p

Great thread as always Voo. For how many of these you have stats of duration (preferrably each set) and points lost?

Do you remember Murray's almost triple bagel at AUSO in 2007 against Martin 6:0 6:0 6:1 where was 5:0 in last set, but Martin won only one of his serve and Andy was angry about it :D

Re: Double and triple bagels in the last 30 years

Some notes about the triple bagels:

RG 1968: The winner's name is Spear (no d).
Wim 1987: 60 minutes. Eriksson won 34 points in total and led 40-15 in the 4th game of the opening set. Edberg won 3 love games, 5 games went to deuce.
RG 1987: none atm.
USO 1987: 71 minutes, points won: 79-29 Lendl, winner-UE: Lendl 21-17, Moir 6-38. Amazingly Moir hit 91% first serves in but only won 29% of those points.
RG 1993: 60 minutes, points won: 80-31 Bruguera (according to the ATP site; another article state Champion won just 28 points).

P.S. It is extremely odd that while there had been just 5 triple bagels in more than 41 years of OE, most of them occured in the same year.

Re: Double and triple bagels in the last 30 years

How on earth did Monaco get double bagelled on clay (even by as good a player as Canas was back then)?
