Just wondering about the influence Nike may exert on commentary on ESPN. The most recent example if the differing treatment applied to Djokovics DQ versus Serenas conduct in her US final against Osaka. Patrick MacEnroe slammed Djokovic for his appalling behavior and all the other ESPN commentators applauded the tournament for “applying the rules,“ but theses same analysts blamed everyone except Serena for the events that transpired against Osaka. Recently it seems that all storylines seem to follow the stories of Nike sponsored players. One story interviewed relatives of the names on Osaka face masks, one of which sported a t-shirt emblazoned by the Nike logo. Then there is the motherhood story featuring Azarenka and Serena. Mary Carrillo was fired by ESPN when she criticized Serena’s behavior in her USOpen final with Kim Clijsters.

I see it more as nationalism. USA players can do no wrong according to ESPN commies

ESPN is a joke. And Alexandra Stevenson, the less said the better. Looks to be about 50 pounds overweight, so I don't think a comeback is in the works for her.

ESPN is extremely leftist, and Osaka can do nothing wrong. She has black liberal privilege, even though she is glorifying rapists, thugs, drug addicts and lowlife losers. ESPN has regard or respect for the many victims of the crimes of jacob blake and floyd george. Patrick McEnroe knows he has to kow tow to the leftist agenda which is actually anti white. A lot of people are not watching the us open because of the way espn and usta are politicizing it. The tournament is not just about tennis anymore, it's about politics and racial politics. If espn and usta are not careful they could destroy the sport. fans are the lifeblood who buy the tickets, buy the goods, watch on tv, spread the good word, etc. espn and usta better be damned careful ramming their leftist politics down our throats.

alexandra stevenson is far worse than awful. it's a wonder they have not dragged her out of the stadium yet. complete amateur. but that's affirmative action for you.

Don’t know who they are but don’t think they are tennis pundits.
They are not tennis pundits but they work for ESPN. My criticism wasn't directed at you in particular, it was to SuperG who just went on a whole tangent about ESPN.

But If I recall, they didn't defend her in the Naomi Osaka incident, they were just not as harsh as others were but they didn't really say she was in the right. I also think because she's American, and she has a lot of fans, they are more likely to not talk about the incident in great detail.

According to ESPN execs she left because of
“philosophical differences” between Carillo and ESPN. Which differences apparently only surfaced after her criticism of Serena Williams during the Final with Kim Clijsters
