a documentary on Pancho Gonzalez, in case anyone is interested.

The part I saw was an older Pancho demanding a recess to a match because of growing darkness. He almost threw a tandrum. It was agreed and the next day he won the match. Did anyone catch who he was playing (some guy who cried after he lost).
That's not how they remember him on the sister boardalelysafina said:And he will forever be known as the guy who cried after he lost to Pancho.
I actually missed the beginning, so I don't know if the mentioned that or not. I wondered if it was somehow derogatory at first though, because there was a long quote at the end that commented how every time he served and hit the ball, he did it for everytime some kid in blah got called pancho, and everytime somebody said he wasn't good enough to date their daughter, and blah. Um, the quote was MUCH nicer than that, but that was the general themeBy the way, why do they call him pancho? Because I know his real name isn't Francisco...
Wish I had known! The Tennis Channel also had an hour long program, actually a film on Gonzales, on about a year ago. Also on the Blast From the Past forum here I have a thread on Gonzales with tons of information on his career...check it out and comment on it if you'd like.WF4EVER said:a documentary on Pancho Gonzalez, in case anyone is interested.
