I have to admit I start to dislike some players when they beat Richard consistently. I used to like Nalbandian but he has been giving Richard a hard time. But I guess he's just that good. And Ferrer, too. :fiery: I also dislike Nadal's h2h record against Gasquet. Yeah I know it's immature and it's not their fault they always beat him as Richard needs to step up. But I can't help but get happy when Richard's nemesis gets beat early.

With me it just depends on who the other player is. There are some players I just don't like so, of course, I never want them to defeat Richie. But if I like the other player I don't mind as much about how the Match turns out.

Yeah I guess Nalby is okay when he's not playing Richard. I dislike Nadal already so when he beats Richard it's 10x the hate for me. I don't really care about Tursunov/Andreev/Verdasco despite the fact that they beat Richard before. I don't really mind that much when Fed beats Richie as I like Federer a lot.

I don't get annoyed with Richard's opponents. And I hardly ever get annoyed with Richard either. The only thing which does make me  is when he loses matches in which he scored more points then the opponent (Verdasco Montreal )

I might dislike them when they are beating Richard but generally they would have to do something a lot worse than just win a tennis match to make me actually not like them or be unwilling to cheer for them against other opponents.

I don't dislike a player for beating Richie, but I do dislike a player for beating Andy. It's like a hierarchy with me and my favorites:

1. Andy
.
.
.
2. Richard
3. Rafa
4. James
.
.
.
5. Gonzo
.
.
6. Evgeny
.
.
7. Safin, Nalby, Fish etc.

IMO, every player who faces Andy, even my favorites on this list, must go down... no questions asked. If two of my faves play each other, I'll usually choose one to pull for based on the circumstances like H2H (Richard/Rafa), Ranking (Rafa/James), previous encounter (Safin/Nalby)

An example, when Safin and Nalby played each other at the 06 USO, I rooted for Marat because he was lower ranked and coming back from injury. When they played again that fall, I pulled for David because he lost the last one.

Hope that makes sense. :wavey:

So how did you feel when Richard beat Andy at Wimbledon?

Not good I guess. :p
I dislike Nadal but only because of his game.. nothing to do with his h2h against Richard.
As for the one who really annoyed me after beating Richard.. it is Djokovic. I disliked his bad sportsmanship during his final of Estoril against Richard. Fortunately, Richard got a sweet revenge since then.

I apologise to Blackgirltennis, I can imagine it must be tough when 2 of your favourites are up against each other. IF Richard faces Tsonga in the 3rd round, I am going to be in a predicament. My wish is for Richard to make 1/4 at AO, however, if Tsonga gets through, that is small compensation.

Julie, you are also right about Djoko. I did not see the final at Estoril, but I do remember after seeing the result, feeling rather annoyed at Djoko, which it has occurred to me why he is not one of my favourites either. :)

Apart from Richie, I'm fervent fan of Nalbandian, Wawrinka and Baghdatis.
So, any match between them is a win-win situation for me. :)

If Richie loses to other player, I'll be frustrated for a while, then I'll try to figure out the exact reasons of his loss and just hope next time Richie plays him he'll kick his ass.

Apart from the four aforementioned players, I also like many other players. Just happens not to follow them so enthusiastically. ;)

I actually did not finish that match. I left to go to work when Richie won the 3rd set. I wasn't too angry. I was disappointed in the way Andy closed all his matches during that two weeks. He would let break chances go in the 3rd sets and close it out in the tiebreak. I told myself, "Once Andy plays a quality opponent, he's gonna lose." It started with Mathieu in the 4th round, and Richard took him out.

So I was mixed; I was very upset Andy lost, but I was happy Richard got to his 1st GS semi. I never saw the 4th and 5th sets (only highlights), but it's safe to assume Richie started hitting more winners?

Jo would play Richie in the 4th round because he takes Murray's draw after beating him.

Anybody have a 'list'? For those who don't know what a 'list' is, look at mine:

Federer
Hewitt
Ljubicic
and for some time... Blake (summer 06), Baghs, Ferrer

Actually, Ferrer and Baghs would go on the list but they're just so likeable. :awww:
