Whether those players were infected in Serbia on his event or not, I believe the most gentleman way to do now is at least issue an apology to those who have been affected...

Just be a man NOvaxx own up with the responsibility. Your 17 slams is becoming a joke if you can't be a champion off court.

Just saying.

Do you expect an apology from somebody who organises a tennis tournament during a pandemic that flouts all sensible precautions, and then when players are tested positive for the disease, refuses to get tested and crosses a national border?

Well, well, well...

Who'd have thought that MTF was full of wimps?

It's hardly a surprise, but current events have illuminated their presence.

Novak Djokovic organised events with consenting players, staff and crowd. Get over it.

Not just that, it was totally in line with other events that occured in Serbia; Partizan Red-Star was played in front of 25000 fans 3 days before the start of the Adria Tour!

No, being a wimp is not taking full responsibility of the event you organise and go into hiding when it become a disaster.

Novak is most likely still processing what is going on and determining whether he needs to issue an apology. Sure maybe he should apologise for the sake of it, but this virus outbreak was a policy failure from government, not Novak's fault. If anyone should be apologising, it is the Serbian and Croatian governments.

Of all the attempts to blame shift, this one is the weakest.

Did the govts. tell them to hug, play basketball and go nightclubbing?

He's going to apologize eventually. Didn't he say he plans to address the world?
The MTF pile on is becoming like Twitter. Dude did a stupid thing, we all agree. The players who went partying did a stupid thing too and we all agree.
Are all these extra threads necessary?

Serbia are taking the virus seriously-
"Polling stations were equipped with face masks and hand sanitizers for the country's electorate of almost 6.6 million, many of whom were expected to skip voting - partly because of fears of coronavirus infection."

Why should he? More western Europeans getting it than people in the Balkans.

You Djokovic haters can kiss his hairy Serbian beanbags
Why? Because he's the president of players council and his players have been exposed to life-threatening virus. I'm sure he would feel responsible one way or another... or not? lol

The media had Djokovic cornered with guns drawn and teeth bared. Testing positive or fake testing positive was really the only option. Just apologize and move on. Now he gets sympathy and all will be forgotten. Smart card play by Djokovic.

I read Djokovic's statements and, just as I thought, he believed the virus was well under control and that it was safe to play in front of packed stadiums without any social distancing rules. All of the players did. These countries are responsible, not Djokovic or anyone else.

I like his statement. The tournament had absolutely pre-determined risks and everybody participating or in case of Djokovic organizing it was well aware of them and more then willing to take those risk in light of the positives this tournament series was able to offer.

It was an absolutely rational decision from everybody to participate, from players to spectators to organizers and one shouldn't apologize for a decision as well thought through as this. In such a case, issuing an apology only makes you look weak and means that you are either dishonest with your apology (as I believe it would have been the case with Djokovic) or shows that your original decisions weren't based on logical reasoning.
