Corona strikes Djokovic's legacy of numbers down.

If Djokovic reaches 298 confirmed ATP weeks at number one - he would be 13 short of 311, the official record in the open era. The discussion would expand to newer heights.

If Djokovic reaches 309 weeks at number one only: Please, we all know who the real number one is.

Rafa will get the #1 ranking at Wimbledon if its played.
But Djokovic won the last two Wimbledon's. Why do you think he is going to lose earlier than Rafa ?

Sounds like those old super suits swimming records.
Those records are now discredited, but you still have to beat the record for your one to be legal.

It kind of makes sense to do it this way.

If the tour resumes after US Open though, Djokovic will be under huge pressure ranking wise. Nadal will be rested and will get that #1 back if he keeps his points from MC to US open, which is his strong period in the calendar.

If not for Nadal, Djokovic will get the record anyway. He is too close to fail on that target, even if his means he has to expand his commitment to the tour a bit longer than he wanted (no way he will stop around 300).

Rafa played better than Djokovic at the last 2 Wimbledons.
2018 Rafa played better than Djokovic but lost 10-8 in the 5th Set.
2019 Rafa-Federer was a higher quality match than Djokovic-Federer.
And this year Djokovic looked incredibly weak in the AO Final despite Thiem being below 100% after Rafa took Thiem's legs out.
So based on all that, I have a hunch Rafa will beat Djokovic at Wimbledon this year.

Nadal hasn't been to a Wimbledon final in almost a decade.

I don't know if you are aware of this but the best level of tennis played at a slam event is often not in the Final, so Rafa's level has clearly been good enough to win Wimbledon recently.

How are you going to win Wimbledon if you don’t make the final, which Nadal hasn’t done in almost a decade?

So what you’re saying is that he shows a high enough level to win the tournament at some point during the tournament but can’t bring that level when it really matters.

Yes Fedtards need Djoko to win slams but Nadal to be #1 and for Corona to last long enough for the young guys to age into their prime

What a drama and twist in the GOAT debate. IW-USO 2020 was supposed to be the most important 6 months in tennis history. Turns out it will be the most important 6 months in human history

Ranking freeze (while being most sensible solution) is unfavourable for both Djoko and Nadal in terms of weeks at #1. It's obvious that only they could've been #1 until June and could've added to their tallies. Djoko also had the momentum and a chance to get closer to Fed's record. However, not everything is lost: they will start from a similar position when the tour is back. The problem is nobody exactly knows when it will happen: if the virus affects most of 2020 season then Djokodal's historic campaigns will take a serious hit.

That's why trying to compare the records of players too closely can be problematic. When something like this happens, that becomes all the more obvious. Just looking at a list of numbers doesn't always tell the whole story.

When did I say Rafa won't make the Final?
Even people who don't think Rafa will win Wimbledon will tell you there is a good chance of Rafa making the Wimbledon Final, given that he's made the SFs the last 2 years despite enduring the hectic clay season....

He only didn't bring it for ONE match - 2019 Wimbledon SF.
2019 Rafa played well but chose the wrong tactic, as Roig said they agreed that Rafa would return Federer's serve from very close to the baseline but in the match Rafa mistakenly chose to return from far behind the baseline.
And even then, the 1st Set was a tiebreaker, and Rafa won the 2nd Set 6-1.

And Rafa brought the necessary level in 2018, lost 10-8 in the 5th Set, a toss of the coin result.
This is tennis, a game of very few points deciding the result.
If Rafa repeats the 2018 level in particular, excellent chance of winning Wimbledon this year, especially since he'll be a lot fresher this year.
