Delpo in 5 W-13
Wawa in 5 USO-13
Fed in 5 W-14

Since AO-13 his balance against top-10 opposition at slams is 3-5 (including this years W final). Nadal has 9-1 ratio for example (and he was injured during his loss). Federer is 4-3 and Wawa is 6-3.

Before Wimby F Djokovic's last win over top-10 in GS was at USO against Wawa .

That he's very good in 5 set matchs, besides last time I checked Berdych was a top 10 player.

That those 3 specific players are only 3 players from the top 10 and that therefore you have put a special twist on making it sound significant.

yep, forgot Berdych one  and didn't realize that botnic was top-10.

Still, Djokovic always has a hard time against top-10 players in decent form.

I suppose the OP is gesturing towards the fact that it would imply Novak was weak mentally against top players at slams, either losing to them or winning by very thin margins

This tells me he is not going to dominate and win many slams for several more years like his delusional fans think.

He is going to win 2 or 3 more slams tops.

His fans predicting he will surpass Sampras are delusional.

2011 is a thing of the past not something to expect for the upcoming years, he is not 23 or 24 anymore. Next year he will be 28, the age where the all time greats like Lendl, Federer and Sampras struggled to win slams. They only 2 slams after turning 28... Djokovic has a trajectory similar to Lendl.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Novak_Djokovic_career_statistics#Top_10_wins_per_season

Since we're not talking about the multitude of wins he has had outside of BO5 (which thread title doesn't specify), he has had 3 wins in less than 5 sets in BO5 matches against top 10 since AO 2013.

Berdych Wimbledon 2013
Berdych Davis Cup Final 2013
Raonic French Open 2014

Apart from that, there have been 6 slams since AO 2013 - in two of them he lost in 5 to the first top 10 player he faced (FO 2013, AO 2014), in two of them he beat the first top 10 player he faced in 5 sets (USO 2013, Wimbledon 2014), in two of them he beat the first top 10 player he faced in straight sets (Wimbledon 2013, FO 2014).

(And incidentally, since AO 2013 (which discounts the 3-0 he went there, not including his epic against Wawrinka), his record against top 10 in slams is 5-5).

In other words there is no interesting pattern or really anything remarkable about his record against top 10 in the rather arbitrary cut off of the past 6 slams.

Apart from the other mentioned wins against the top 10 in less than 5 sets, he also defeated Gulbis&Dimitrov in 4 sets each who were unofficially at that stage of the tournament in the top 10.

As for the usual talk about trajectory of victories with regards to age etc. I'm surprised the broken radio doesn't ever get bored of itself..

Novak has 7 slams, that is what counts, not how many sets he had to play to win those matches. Besides Federer and Rafa, no one else today comes close.

Raonic RG 14,Berdych Wimby 13 ???
Also Dimitrov in W 14, if you consider live ranking, he was number 9 already.

But Djokovic has surely declined from his 2011-12 form, not sure why people are considering him a lock for the US Open. He's the favorite, but not a lock or heavy favorite.

Yet he hits a billion more winners than players you like. In fact he hits more winners than most players on tour. Not bad for someone Weaponless :wavey:

That MTF is officially in a post-slam slump.
That always happens on MTF

lol what's next? Djokovic hasn't beat a top 10 player in less than 4 sets? Who cares?
