Finally, after years of mediocrity, two 23 year olds had the opportunity to break through, and they both fold like flimsy tissue. Why not just give the big 4 another 5 slams each and cancel tennis for the next five years.

Possibly yes, at least I can't remeber a generation with so few prospects and taking so long to break through

No natural born champions. Grigor as talented as he is is a mental midget that needs to learn how to win big matches and who needs to fail few times to success. Best case scenario he'll turn into another Djokovic.

And the others are pathetic really, they don't even train hard.

It seems like Robotronic was on the court just to take the check vs Federer.

It's weak. No denying that. Dimitrov has the talent but not the mind. Raonic has the mind but not the talent. It is telling that the Thiem/Kyrgios generation is catching the Raonic/Dimitrov generation before Raonic/Dimitrov catches Nadal/Djokovic

Talent like Federer and Supreme fighter like Nadal are a rare breed, can't expect that young players are better. They are hard act to follow.

Raonic is a right handed Ivanisevic, might be able to fluke his way to a slam.

Dimitrov is all hype, no substance.

Yeah, very much a shit generation.

it's really really bad, no doubt. Unfair to lump the two performances today together though, Dimitrov played quality tennis and the 4th set wasn't really a choke (3rd set was).

How you thought comparing Raonic total helplessness from munutes ago with Grigor's huge effort early on
Looking at his career as a whole, I can't think of any other generation where the most manifestly talented player of his generation has nothing at that age. And sadly, he's one of the more accomplished ones. I haven't even mentioned this idiot:

Right, because losses in their first Major Semis means they will never ever win again. They will get their chances it's only a matter of time.

Well, we are not talking about such extremes, just good prospects making inroads. Aside from those two, there's no one and those two have not been particularly impressive for various reasons so far.

Well those born in 90's are pussies too, born with golden spoon in their mouth, so that might explain something

To be fair Dimitrov was generally clutch as he was able to break Djokovic when he got broken (althoug Djokovic did lower his guard those times) although the most important points did seem to just make him sick. Personally, I think he is a very emotional person that it could get to him physically and mentally. Remember how he said he was sad after the defeat against Nadal on AO and you have seen there that he should've at least gotten the 3rd Set IMO.

Especially when you consider where other "star" prospects from this generation are right now... Harrison, Tomic, Berankis, Sock etc.

recently watched the junior W final 2008 - Dimitrov - Kontinen
where is Kontinen?
also Berankis was the other hyped junior in the Futures, with Dimitrov. look at him now.
Fedal set the bar very high.

Goran was better in absolutely everything, from movement, serve, BH, FH, volleys and especially return. The fact that he's a lefty is just an icing on the cake. Raonic does get thumbs up for better mentality, but that's it. OTOH, it seems he'll have more than a few years with no great players, so he'll have his chances.
