Handing the #2 seed to Murray on a silver platter... now instead of having 50% chance of facing Nishikori in the SF and one of Murray/Djokovic in the final, he will have to go through both assuming both Nole/Murphy beat everyone else.

I doubt that Federer cares if he is ranked #2, #3 or #23, the obstacle remains Djokovic.

He does not want to tire himself and play USO in bad form, 2nd or 3rd seed is no difference if he cannot beat Nole/Murray

Look what happen last year, he was playing at 11 p.m. for most of week. This is was Murray playing the late night matches.
He was tired, almost got bageled by Ferrer in Cincy final.

It doesn't matter. When he is playing well, Mug-ray and Sh1tori will get straight setted. His real problem is Djokovic and may be Stan.

Makes sense. Don't make scheduling decisions based on one tournament. Make scheduling decisions based on overall play. Fed has had a long season already and wants to peak for USO.

Well, considering the history of the US Open draws and how Federer and Djoko are drawn to each other in semi finals like flies to shit, It's a certainty they will meet in Sf now as opposed to the F

But if your aspiration is to win the US Open, then you need to beat Djokovic at some point.

This is good. If Fed was #2 the USO officials would have rigged the draw and put Murray in No1e's half, giving a cakewalk draw to Fed.

This way Fed might end up in Murray's half. Also he might be an easier SF opponent than Nishikori, actually.

Nole SF loss would be delicious.

Wrong analysis, on grass Djokovic his his Achilles' tendon. On hard and clay take your pick. Federers failing speed and stamina, mean he can now be picked off by any top 50 player who is GOATING in a match against him. Seppi AO ring any bells?

So Novak is not Federers only obstacle. Father Time respects no one. Look what it's done to Nadal at 29. Federer has faired better, but his real decline starts here.

Federer and young Djokovic were in the same half at USO/AO 2008-2011 or eight consecutive times while Federer was Peakerer, playing six HC SF rubbers.

The friend of KiAO was always in the other half.

After Djokovic' 2011 peak and Federer becoming HC Olderer, Nikerer simply joined his brother in Nike Nikedal at 2012 in the opposite half to Djokovic at USO/AO and since 2013 at Wimb. too.

As Fedal is always together at USO/AO since 2012 so are Djokovic & HC Stanimal + majority of HC contenders in their HC half, and it will stay the same the next USO/AO, because Nike, Kia, Slam and TV directors etc. will just be lucky again, no.

Yep, as the last year Federer (this year both Fedal though) will get one HC contender again (instead of Cilic) and all others shall land in Djokovic/Stanimal' half.

So, if Murray gets to no.2 he'll get an invitation to F as at at AO'15, by being placed in Fedal' contender-free half with him as the only HC contender again.
