This is the way it looks. Stunning that Kyrgios would opt for a silly exhibition than playing for his country and Lleyton Hewitt. Another sign that Kyrgios is a clown and afraid of high stakes pressure?

Didn't he claim he isn't fit enough? Didn't look great in Laver either. Hewitt really has to hope Kokkinakis is fit next year or else he will have to apologize to Tomic and beg him for help.

Kyrgios is a walking bye on clay, just like the other Aussies (except Kokk maybe), so it's not like it mattered. Novak would probably routined him in straights

Kyrgios beat Federer on clay the first time he played him in Madrid.

But that's a blatant defiance of an Aussie legend and hero, Lleyton Hewitt. That's a blatant offense to the history of Australian Davis Cup tennis.

Guess it just shows clearly where Nick's priorities are at - clowning and goofing off for easy money. Laver Cup was easy money for all the players with no pressure. Davis Cup with Lleyton Hewitt breathing down your neck for the entire match is the ultimate pressure.

I was surprised to hear Nick played at Laver Cup considering he pulled out of the Davis Cup due to injury/fitness. Considering he loves the team element of the Davis Cup and Hewitt was his mentor, I thought he would've played. Though he did commit to Laver Cup a few months ago (probably received a nice appearance fee)?

Wasn't this tie fairly meaningless in the wake of the changes to the Davis Cup format coming in 2019?

Yep it was completely meaningless with no effect on standings, and just a chance for Hewitt's narcissism to shine again when he selected himself to play rather than give someone who needs the experience and or dollars a go.

All of them should join Nick in boycotting DC until Hewitt either actually retires, or gives up the captaincy until he does.
