Former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro continued to build confidence by winning the Delray Beach International Tennis Championships in Florida last weekend.

The Argentinean, who is on the comeback trail after a wrist injury side-lined him for over a year, showed a clinical edge throughout the tournament on his way to an impressive title win, having only made the draw as a wildcard due to his low ranking of 484 just 3 weeks ago.

Del Potro won his first title since his US Open triumph in 2009 as he overcame the sixth-seeded Serbian 6-4 6-4.

The Argentinean needed 114 minutes to secure the win, proving he is over the wrist injury that demolished his 2010 campaign and anyone following the live score goalwire would have been very impressed.

Del Potro was relieved man to get the victory and admitted that he needed a bit of luck as he saw off Janko Tipsarevic in the final of the Delray Beach Championships.

He said: "I feel completely tired but it's amazing for me, this comeback… I'm trying to improve my game day by day. Today Janko played better than me I think, but I had a little luck in the important moments."

The victory has taken Del Potro back into the top 100, following semi-final appearances in the preceding tournaments in San Jose and Memphis. His return to action has been very impressive and his current form will give him a real boost with this summer's Roland Garros and Wimbledon grand slams on the horizon and live score tennis fans will be hoping his good form continues.

It will be interesting to see if Del Potro can continue his form and make a strong challenge to add to his single US grand slam title win in 2009.
