That has to hurt for Alex, figuratively more than literally. Sad that he overplayed in ATP cup, weird decisions from Hewitt. Get well soon.

On a side note, this puts even more pressure on Kyrgios from the home crowd.
Would be amazing if he could rise to the occasion and deliver some exciting results.

damned, he was already injured for more than 2 months last year, missing the Double Sunshine, and now again .... just before the AO, not a good sign for his future. I agree with other posts, he played too much at the ATP Cup.

Sad for many reasons - most importantly he seemed to have upped his level recently and was playing well in the lead-up. And, of course, it is nice for the home crowd to have a young talent to cheer for. Hopefully he can recover quickly and come back strong.

Now this is lame. Too bad. Someone to punch Lleyton in the nose. All faults is him's.

Here's a potential list of the exact moment the injury happened:

Joking asides, maybe he did actually hurt himself when they awkwardly rolled around the floor together? Very sad news, was looking forward to see him play :( Hope he recovers quickly.

oh course the tough aspect is he was drawn with very tough teams and had to field as the no.1 Aussie (rather than Nick). Zverev, Shapovalov and Evans are a tough trio of opponents to face. I'm not surprised because this also happened to Kei when he played Monte Carlo in 2018. Beat Berdych, Medvedev, Seppi, Cilic, Zverev to reach the final, with four three set matches. After the tournament he had to retire midmatch in Barcelona.
Dude!!!

Such a pity, was really looking forward to seeing how he would have fared at this year's Aus Open as he played well at ATP Cup.

Wishing Alex a speedy recovery.

Wow, 20 years old now getting overplayed after first week in season. What will he do 10 years from now??
Erm yeah? 20 years old or not you can’t play so many hours consecutively. You need to pace yourself and have a break in between. Really not sure what is your point
