So let's talk about it ? lets our Niko's forum get alive for a little.
Answer to 5 questions:
1- Do you think he still has it in him and can get to TOP 10?
2- Do you think he can keep himself in top 50 till the end of the year ?
3- Does he will retire in the end of 2012 ?
4- Can he prolong his streak with at least one title in 2012?
5- Can he go to at least 4rd round in a GS ? he haven't been there since AO in 2010 infact only one 3rd round for 2 whole years ..... ?

Here what i think!
1- He still has it but i think his motivation is nowhere close to pre-2010 ... so i think he can't go up there honestly (sad) :S :X ...
2-Yes he will keep himself in top 50 and end the year somewhere between 35-40 (better than now 41...)
3-Yes he will retire after 2012 i'm 90% sure ... :S :S ...
4-Yes he will win one or two of the atp250's this year... one for sure for a second title... i'm not so sure ...
5-I will make a fearless prediction and say that he will get to 2 fourth rounds i think at AO and at UO ... 1rst round at Wimbledon and 2nd round at FO (Wimbledon and FO like this year...)

I was just about to come here and make the thread.

1. sadly..no, i dont think he does. I think that his best he can be is around the top 15

2. i hope so. There were times this year when glimpses of the old davy surfaced and if he can just get that form for a substantial period of time this year he will keep himself in the top 50.

3. It depends. He said himself that the day he cant get direct entry into masters events is the time he will retire. I think he will either way but we'll see

4. He definately can

5. I think he can yes. He will require some luck but if he hits form i think he still has it in him

1. I don't think so really, and not anything against him but it's because of other players. you have the top 4, then if Ferrer stays consistent, Tsonga keeps playing the way he's been playing, Del Potro continues to find his way back... that's already 7 spots, not much space left. Then maybe Berdych, Monfils, some young guys have a big year.
2. Top 50, yes I think that is doable.
3. I'd say 80% likely.
4. Yes
5. really depends on the draw. but if he does make a deep run, it changes things for question #1 because those slam points can really float a player's ranking for a whole year.

2 Probably
3 Probably. If he's serious about Masters entry, then now except IW/Miami
4 probably a little one

Oy  :banghead: This sucks both ways for me. Both guys have big points here from last year to defend. Stupid draw

maybe a miracle will happen and he'll take roger out, maybe the ass kickings rogers took in the exho actually means something

Davy
Good luck at AO. I hope you are on the opposite side of the draw for Roger and I can cheer for you to the final! (and in the final, if Rog isn't there).

Everyone was saying Davy was awful in the match, but I didn't think he was that awful. I mean I was not comparing him to the Davydenko who was in the top 10, or even the one from last year's Doha final. I was just comparing him to what I saw in the last half of 2011, and I though he was a bit better. Fed just didn't give him much to work with. And I'm sure he stepped on the court feeling negative about his chances, so that would affect how you'd play, too.

Australian Open draw:
Round 1: Cipolla
Round 2: Feli Lopez most likely (or L. Mayer)
Round 3: could be Nalbandian, Isner or Nieminen
Round 4: Nadal (or Ljubicic/Haas/qualifier?)

Well he lost in R1 last year so if he beats Cipolla we're in the money  :sobbing:

Good luck, Niko!

dropped the first set 4-6 but took the 2nd set 6-4

2nd set was a break-fest with 7 of 10 service games being breaks but davy got the decisive one

4-6, 6-4

and broke to start the 3rd

and gets broken back:eek::mad:
