The four players are : Starace, Bracciali, Seppi and Galimberti.

Volandri isn't due to a dispute about the fee with Italian Tennis Federation

no but Nadal will play 100% sure. for the other 3 places there'are 4 players, Ferrero, Ferrer, Robredo and Verdasco.
Ferrero said today that he's very motivated to play the tie if the captains decide to choose him for the team....

In theory spanish team will be announced on monday or tuesday .

I think the four elected players will be : Nadal, Ferrer, Robredo and Ferrero .

I guess Seppi and Starace will play singles, i cannot imagine Bracciali playing singles on clay. Still it is a pity Volandri is not playing, even though the overall result would not be in doubt.

In theory spanish team will be announced on monday or tuesday .

I think the four elected players will be : Nadal, Ferrer, Robredo and Ferrero .

That would probably be the team. Verdasco is too weak a player compared to the four listed. Robredo needs to work on his nerves.

Intervista Volandri
Si è riunito oggi a Roma il Consiglio Federale della FIT. Dopo aver ascoltato la relazione del Capitano di Coppa Davis Corrado Barazzutti e del Direttore degli Internazionali d’Italia Sergio Palmieri, il Consiglio:

-ha ribadito con fermezza di considerare non trattabile la partecipazione agli incontri della squadre Nazionali e dovere di ogni tesserato quello di onorare la maglia Azzurra, così come ripetutamente comunicato ai giocatori e alle giocatrici italiane fin dal suo primo insediamento, nel 2001;

-ha invitato il Capitano Barazzutti a non prendere in considerazione l’ipotesi di convocare il giocatore Filippo Volandri per l’incontro di Coppa Davis Italia-Spagna del prossimo 23-25 settembre, reputando le sue convinzioni incompatibili con i basilari principi dello sport;

-ha preso atto della disponibilità a giocare espressa senza condizioni dagli altri giocatori che la società ESSEDUE sas asseriva di rappresentare nella lettera inviata due settimane fa alla FIT;

-ha programmato le linee di azione che contribuiscano da oggi in poi sia a diffondere ancor di più fra i giovani tennisti il rispetto per la maglia Azzurra e una corretta cultura sportiva sia a rendere i giocatori già affermati meno vulnerabili a ogni tentativo di strumentalizzazione da parte di terzi.

Il Consiglio Federale, a nome dell’intero movimento tennistico nazionale, ha altresì espresso le proprie congratulazioni a Davide Sanguinetti e alle ragazze italiane per i brillanti risultati ottenuti nell’Open degli USA.

Rafa will play singles, and if he's ready he'll play doubles with Feliciano, Juan Carlos and David will fight for the other place in singles with David partnering Feliciano if Spain leads 2-0 after friday!

According spanish press the four elected will be : Nadal, Ferrer , Ferrero and Feliciano Lopez.

It's quite surprising Feliciano's presence . I don't know if Robredo and Verdasco are injured , i think they are healthy, therefore Feliciano's pick is just a joke , but it isn't at all funny .

Spanish captains have lost their bearings . Fortunately Feliciano will only play doubles.

Felicano has always been a lucky boy, maybe if he was uglier he wouldn't have so much luck in the life .

Thanks for the news,Alvarillo! Captains make a right decision to pick these Spaniards!
In my mind,I like Juan much more than Ferrer. But when talking about recent states,IMO David is more suitable to play the single rubber(s).
Anyway vamos Juan :smooch: and other Spaniards in DC! :rocker2:

oh they are not going to make JC play doubles, he totally sucks at doubles (sorry JC but it's true) They would have to make him play singles, coz if they were going to use him for doubles then Verdasco would have been a safer bet, but still JC'S IN!!!!
