Really awesome match for the Argies who only dropped served in the *4-3 service game in the third to rebreak back at the 4-4 and serve it out :worship:

The Tie is 2-1 in favour of the local hopes :yeah:

Fat Dave/Willy Cañas upset Björkman/Lindstedt, 7-5 6-4 6-4. ARG 2-SWE 1

Such a great result against the double specialists!!!
Once again Nalbi is probably going to win the tie almost single-handedly  . Though it will be a tough match against the Toad

:woohoo: :rocker2:

Well done to David and Willy. They were very impressive today. Hopefully David can finish off the tie against the Toad tomorrow.

Argies raised their level at crunch points, Swedes dropped theirs.

Vamos Argentina!!

For some reason i thought Nalbandian had to play the 5th match. I hope Nalby wins the forth match but I also hope to see Pico playing, especially because of what happened to him in the first round against Great Britain.

First of all, this tie is not over. But if Argentina beats Sweden, Russia will be very tough (Spain on the other hand will destroy USA on clay). IMO Argentina should choose a hard court for a final against Spain. On clay, Spain starts with a 2-0 advantage (Nadal). On hard Nalbi has a good chance to win both points. But still a loooong time to go.

Congrats to Argentina, had they lost it would be a bit more complicated on Sunday. Now they should close it out.

I agree, Argentina has to be careful here. It's hard to judge how well Soderling is really playing, but he may suprise here and he certainly didn't do anything wrong against Acasuso.

Then the last match will have Thomas Johansson, who gave a pretty good fight against Nalbandian yesterday, against presumably Monaco or Canas (Canas withdrew from Valencia by the way).

All the love to Chucho, man. He played horribly but all the love to the guy nonetheless.
Y'know, before the match, every argie at Parque Roca was chanting for Chucho. That's love man.

And then.. everybody was chanting for Willy. Cañas is such the player that fills us all with pride.
I mean, David is emperor in his land, he has all the fucking talent. But seeing a Gladiator like Cañas fighting the points is a real show.
This match was evidence that as much as we love and depend on Nalbi, there is something extra and special about Willy, that makes us love him a bit more.

Argentina must win the Davis cup before Nalbandian retires. David is the main man.
If he retires, I don't know who will have enough potential to replace him.

It sounds like you were at the match- were you? :)

On another board I asked a poster from Argentina currently who was the most "loved" player- and they said Willy followed by Chucho- with a lot of respect for David. But Willy had their heats Your account sounds similar. He also implied that they like Pico a lot - but are waiting for the love because he has not yet had the big DC stuff, etc. Does that sound right?

David is a Davis Cup animal. I want him to be playing when they get a title. Full stop.
