Coach says Nalbandian 'is seeking glory'

Melbourne - Martin Jaite, the coach that helped David Nalbandian out of the tennis doldrums in late 2007, said Wednesday that the Argentine has very high hopes for this season. "David is seeking glory," Jaite - a former top-10 player himself - told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.

Nalbandian, currently ranked 10th, experienced an unexpected rise in late 2007, winning consecutive tournaments in Madrid and Paris- Bercy and beating world number 1 Roger Federer and number 2 Rafael Nadal on two occasions each.

Until then, his year had been mediocre, with the quarter-finals in Barcelona as his best result. Poor results had relegated the Argentine to 25th in the world ranking.

Nalbandian insisted Tuesday in Melbourne that he aims to "win a Grand Slam, the Davis Cup and (Olympic) gold" in 2008.

Jaite is not scared at the high expectations.

"Those seem like good, clear goals to me. We think David is going to have a good year, a balanced year. We do not specifically aim at winning the Australian Open, because currently David has to aim at winning all tournaments he takes part in. That is what he is doing, also in Australia. He aims to win this tournament like any other," the coach explained.

do it, thanks
Did your mother neglect to teach you any manners? The word 'please' comes to mind.

I posted the photos in the appropriate thread: the AO Open thread. I did not start a new thread unlike this one. I did contemplate putting the photos in the Photos thread as well but since most people had already viewed them in the AO thread (and half of them twice since some people coudn't view it the first time), it seemed quite excessive.

Well, only the first post with the actual article should have been posted in the "news and articles" thread. The rest of this thread should just be deleted all together.
