It surely had to do with the darts that Chase The Sun was selected for the BSG?
If there was anyone who deserved to win this title, Gary is the man

And the way he won the 9th set after the first two legs when he got two darts in the treble 20 and then the third knocked all the darts out, followed by all the missed doubles and the crowd incident... winning the set after all that was amazing

Congrats to him
Great match, it was pitty that Phil missed double 12 for 9 darts finish.
BDO championship next week, hope Norris will make it :yeah:
I've been watching Anderson now for about 15 years. It was hard to expect anything like this from him, even though it looked like he was a relatively promising player.

He is just incredible. The match against Van Gerwen was just a blockbuster. He proved that he is a true man. After what happened the year before and to say what he said afterwards - he backed it up and then some...unbelievable.

Taylor a sore loser at the end, quickly realising how petulant he would've looked and then started with the fake smiles. Unreal.

Only legends like Priestley, Part and van Barneveld were able to defeat Taylor in the final. Part was the one to do it in the midst of Taylor's aura of invincibility, though.
As for the BDO - No Hankey, no care. The only player worth watching on that side.
When I saw his scoring power 4-5 years ago for the first time, I was surprised to see that he did absolutely nothing in his BDO years from 2002-2009 (5 first round losses).

Anderson won about 10 ranking events in total with the BDO and 3 majors closer to the end of his time there. He's always been motivated by money and moving to the PDC will obviously bring more opportunity to earn far more money. That probably plays a significant factor.

now that i think of it it is very likely
Wow, didn't expect darts talk on MTF of all places!

Anderson was always very talented but with a soft side, it was on display last year against van Gerwen when he lost from 3-1 up, and countless times over the years. He's clearly a new man mentally though, to beat Taylor over that long format in a WC final is immense, especially with a horrible board that was killing him. I despise Taylor and would've been gutted if Gary had lost this 7-6 (especially after Huybrechts and van der Voort should've beaten Taylor in earlier rounds). Gary's always been a nice guy but you can tell there's a harder edge to him now, he talks like a winner in interviews.

Good call. I've watched a little, but disappointing that Ted's not in. Shame they haven't got wildcards, Ted could probably go years without picking up a dart and still be better than a large number of people in that Lakeside bracket. BDO is at a real low point now. Years back people used to slag it off but there were loads of good players. Not so much now.

Agree with most of the stuff you're saying except the reference to last year. Anderson wasn't in a good place well before that match took place. He was barely making quarter-finals of tour events, averaging in the 80's regularly. Hadn't played well since 2011. He had said plenty of times he wasn't enjoying his darts and he wasn't practicing. I don't think it had much to do with having a killer instinct. The only reason he performed so well in that match was because he was absolutely pumped for it. He was furious afterwards and to see Van Gerwen win the title was sickening. As I said, he's motivated by money. After a great 2011, the hunger was waning and it's good he has it back. For how long, no one knows.

The BDO was pretty good up until around 2005 when it took a dip but only for the Worlds and Masters. You can hardly call the rest of the BDO a "tour". A couple of decent events in Holland and that'll be it. Poorly funded.

It's lost its originality. The Dutch callers and their lame attempt with "don't you worry child" rivaling chase the sun is just abysmal.

On a side note, I wish my favourite player John Part would lose a lot of weight and recapture some form. He was an absolute joy to watch and a real gentleman.

Just lose some damn weight.
