Currently tour consists of slow courts as majority and very few fast court tournaments (Grass season, Dubai, Cincy).

This has been currently benefitting Top grinders on tour but suppressing young guns trying to make breakthrough.

Brown's win over World No1 in straight sets with bread stick involved, is not whole story but we can get core of problem why young guns are not stepping up.

If ATP decides to speed up some tournaments maintaining good distribution of slow and fast courts who knows young talented youngsters like Dimitrov, Noshikori, Brown may step up and replace already washed up declined Nadal/Djokovic/Murray generation.

Main problem is Tennis got transformed into very physical in last few years giving edge to grinders, and suppressing real talent. One generation of Tennis got wasted, now when will ATP learn and stop this suppression of real talent?

Or they have policy to promote mugs recently and making Tennis as 'Dead Sport'?

I'm especially fond of the part where he calls soon to be 30 Brown a talented youngster.
:superlol: slowgrass is so full of shit! Sadly, he lives with the delusion that he is some kind of a tennis expert whereas in reality he is just another common butthurt hater whose lige has been ruined by Nadal!

Very good thread. Ignore the non-tennis fans commenting and insulting you.

Guaranteed, the sport would be more exciting and have more younger success if the courts were sped up.

How does anything prove anything.

It proves Nadal was tired after winning RG less than 96 hours ago. D Brown is famous for his dreads and sleeping in a van, also formerly playing for Jamaica. He's not a youngster...also, the grass isn't as fast as the US Open these days.

The notion that youngsters suddenly would've started breaking through with faster courts is hilariously ridiculous. Federer/Nadal/Djokovic/Murray ARE the real talent you are talking about. If the courts would've been faster they would've adapted to that. And no, Nadal isn't bothered by faster courts, only a lower bounce.

The modicum of truth here is that faster courts meant youngster with big serves and no fear could show up and win tournaments without being physically or mentally ready for the tour. So players could make splash early.

However, the true talented youngsters still broke through even during this period of the slow courts.

See Federer, Nadal, Djoko...

Most of the challenger tour events are played on clay. You are right

And I also heard youngster Nishiorki won most of his points on clay.

Why? Grinding represents talent? Fast courts favours for talented shot makers and slow ones for mugs. Brown wouldn't have defeated one trick pony on clay/hard clay.

Are you sure about bolded? He's 2-5 in last 3 years on grass, a real Tennis which gives shot makers advantage, and even 134 ranked journeyman has more shot making skills than PRIME version of player which you included in the list of talented players.

OP is 100% right. slow courts are disgusting and destroying the game since only grinders or servebots can really break through these days.
as a shotmaker you have to be Ultra talented to break through these days
