In the build up to Wimbledon, the favourites for the title in the tennis betting odds will find themselves facing each other in the Fed Cup, as the Czech Republic prepare to face Serbia.

The Czech team booked their place in the final of the Fed Cup for the third consecutive year, when Petra Kvitova gave them an unassailable 3-0 lead over Italy, on Sunday.

The world number three defeated Francesca Schiavone 6-4 7-6 in an hour and 47 minutes, after Kvitova and Lucie Safarova won Saturday's opening singles.

The Wimbledon champion raced into a 3-0 lead, before her opponent reeled off four games. Kvitova rallied to take a topsy-turvy opener.

Schiavone moved a break up in the second, and even served to take the match into a decider, but Kvitova broke back, and then cruised through the tie-break 7-1.

It was a tough game for Kvitova, who will be looking to build momentum for this summer’s Wimbledon championship. Schiavone caused her quite a few problems, which looked to take the 22 year old by surprise.

The Italian’s returns were very long, and proved difficult to handle, but the young Czech had enough to pull through in the end.

The winning score was eventually 4-1, after Italian Sara Errani defeated Andrea Hrlavackova 2-6 6-2 6-2, before Hrlavackova teamed up with Lucie Hradecka to beat Errani and Flavia Pennetta, who retired when leading 6-5 in the first set.

The Czechs will be up against a strong Serbian team, which includes former Wimbledon champion, Ana Ivanovic, as well as Jelena Jankovic, who will be looking to build up momentum, and be crowned Fed Champions for the first time, before heading to Wimbledon, this summer.
