One difference that Djokovic does have a breathing problem and this caused a default against Coria at RG. The thing is it's a shit rule, but if it becomes a pattern like it has been for some other players. As I have said so many times, a hard fitness off season is needed for him.NYCtennisfan said:GWH, you have very clear stance on this issue and I agree for the most part. You seem to be less harsh on Djo then on others though. Giving the youngster the benefit of the doubt? I am. If it happens again though....
The crowd would be more of an issue in Australia than in NY.Sjengster said:I'm looking forward to seeing exactly who's in the crowd for this one - the atmosphere could get a little heated, shall we say, with a Serb playing a Croat...

One of the few wise people on this board, it should be honoured.its.like.that said:coming up with all the big calls today.
At this year's AO, two sections of the crowd were quite hostile towards each other in the match between Croat Ljubo, and the Greek backed Cypriot Marcos 'Bagman' Baghdatis.GeorgeWHitler said:One of the few wise people on this board, it should be honoured.
Seriously, I just hope this one is not on court 600.
I was at the Luzzi vs Baghdatis match, with the Italians on one side and the Greeks on the other, on Court 5 it was a great atmosphere, plus Luzzi is a nutcase.its.like.that said:At this year's AO, two sections of the crowd were quite hostile towards each other in the match between Croat Ljubo, and the Greek backed Cypriot Marcos 'Bagman' Baghdatis.
It made the match even more entertaining, if anything. And the level of english grammar used by each party towards the other was astounding.
if my memory serves me correctly, that match that went to 5 sets, on the court adjacent to showcourt 3? I saw some of that one as well.GeorgeWHitler said:I was at the Luzzi vs Baghdatis match, with the Italians on one side and the Greeks on the other, on Court 5 it was a great atmosphere, plus Luzzi is a nutcase.
Same for the Ljubo vs Marcos match, but these would pale into comparison with a Serb vs Croat match, though the thing is that Djokovic and Ancic get along quite well, same can't be said for a lot of fans.

It was on court 5 that match and as for the Greeks they were letting off flares after the match and Boredo was getting bitchslapped.its.like.that said:if my memory serves me correctly, that match that went to 5 sets, on the court adjacent to showcourt 3? I saw some of that one as well.
I liked Luzzi, and hoped that he would breakthrough into the top ranks, but sadly that is yet to happen.
the match between Baghdatis and Robredo was hilarious. with the greeks letting off fire crackers in the stands.
The first few rounds at the AO always throw up some classic matches, almost all of which are on the outside courts.GeorgeWHitler said:It was on court 5 that match and as for the Greeks they were letting off flares after the match and Boredo was getting bitchslapped.
This reminds me of the Ancic v Schalken match on Ct 8, it was packed with the Dutchies on one side and the Cros on the other and it was loud, football chants going all the time and it went 5 sets.
The best matches are outside and the better crowds as well.
Interesting reasoning.TennisLurker said:I dont like ancic, I dont like djokovik, but I prefer Croatia over Serbia, so, go Mario!
