He can do it and they have trained together during the week as well, so it's not like they don't know each other's game, Djokovic is a chance, but I think Ancic will get through.
Still got to put the ball in play and win points or has that been forgotten as a fundamental to winning matches.mitalidas said:Depends on whether he'll repeat two bathroom breaks, two injury timeouts plus another timeout, and break Mancic's rhythm
No amount of shenanigans, can make a player miss the ball.mitalidas said:If the match is close as it was in his last one, the few points where the momentum switches is what will be fundamental
You must not be familiar with my view on this subject, cause if so, then you wouldn't have made such a point. Considering I have had a long clear stance about the issues concerning time outs and other forms of gamesmanship.mitalidas said:You've never heard of gamesmanship playing a role in match outcomes? Well I have and I think it can play a role in getting into the opponent's head. Whether it should or not is a separate manner
Yes, there is a very simple way of fixing this problem, but until then it's the game organisers with the problem.mitalidas said:Like I said: whether it should get into the opponent's head or not is not the matter, the fact is that often or maybe sometimes, it does. Knowing this, players can use that for gamesmanship. It is well within their rights. Yesterday may not be a case in point. Still, 4-all, deuce, in the 5th is a strategic point.
Well I don't need to repeat it as it has been said so many times, it's not a debate. Cramping is not an injury pure and simple. Yes, there were very tough conditions yesterday and Llodra had heatstroke, Murray had to spew, Djokovic has a breathing problem which would be accentuated in these conditions, Hanescu had to default and???I am not familiar with your view on this but it definitely reignited the debate during his two+ injury timeouts between the commentators courier mac and mcatee-- the cramps were loss of conditioning. others - some wta player- and llodra defaulted when that happened
One difference that Djokovic does have a breathing problem and this caused a default against Coria at RG. The thing is it's a shit rule, but if it becomes a pattern like it has been for some other players. As I have said so many times, a hard fitness off season is needed for him.NYCtennisfan said:GWH, you have very clear stance on this issue and I agree for the most part. You seem to be less harsh on Djo then on others though. Giving the youngster the benefit of the doubt? I am. If it happens again though....
The crowd would be more of an issue in Australia than in NY.Sjengster said:I'm looking forward to seeing exactly who's in the crowd for this one - the atmosphere could get a little heated, shall we say, with a Serb playing a Croat...
One of the few wise people on this board, it should be honoured.its.like.that said:coming up with all the big calls today.
I was at the Luzzi vs Baghdatis match, with the Italians on one side and the Greeks on the other, on Court 5 it was a great atmosphere, plus Luzzi is a nutcase.its.like.that said:At this year's AO, two sections of the crowd were quite hostile towards each other in the match between Croat Ljubo, and the Greek backed Cypriot Marcos 'Bagman' Baghdatis.
It made the match even more entertaining, if anything. And the level of english grammar used by each party towards the other was astounding.
It was on court 5 that match and as for the Greeks they were letting off flares after the match and Boredo was getting bitchslapped.its.like.that said:if my memory serves me correctly, that match that went to 5 sets, on the court adjacent to showcourt 3? I saw some of that one as well.
I liked Luzzi, and hoped that he would breakthrough into the top ranks, but sadly that is yet to happen.
the match between Baghdatis and Robredo was hilarious. with the greeks letting off fire crackers in the stands.
Interesting reasoning.TennisLurker said:I dont like ancic, I dont like djokovik, but I prefer Croatia over Serbia, so, go Mario!
When was the last time you beat them in football? Draws don't count as victories, well they got their independence so didn't win the end. No, I am not a Croat or even a Croat sympathiser, then again you enjoy stirring it up. You're the kind of guy if Nole won a tournament without losing a set, you'd be pissed off because he lost a game.Herceg Novi said:Serbs beat Cro's in every sport apart from handball, hokey on grass and marbles. We have a winning mentality over them always. For sure there will Serbian fans cheering him on just like at AO, FO and wimbledon
Politics nearly always gets involved, just at different levels and as for the sanctions I am not getting into the reasons for why that happened.Herceg Novi said:Serbia never mix politics with sport it is just a shame that the whole world has done so against us, ie sporting sanctions (1992-1994) refusing to play in Serbia after the NATO Aggression...........the reason why we are such a great sporting nation is because we playw ith pride and no fear, to us every opponent is the same
as for football well we knocked them out of EURO 2000, recently beat one of their teams 7-1 in the uefa cup last year in the under 21 EURO we beat them 3-2
Do I bring politics into a match? I don't, thank youNYCtennisfan said:That's an interesting statement considering your screename.![]()
Only someone with a legit problem defaults when they are winning.delsa said:He was winning against Coria in RG...
There are only so many bandwagons that people can jump on, then again they will always find one. As for your Nadal example remember we were in the minority who said he should play in Sevilla and look how that turned out.Deivid23 said:Just a matter of time Nole will turn all these bashers into gloaters, that´s the way things go and I´ll love to have another fav shutting mouths now that Nadal has sticked with glue the lips of almost every one of his haters
PD: I need to get a pic of Nole with his finger on his mouth shutting the crowd up
It can't be just burek and pleskavica and as for looking like Henman, he has better teeth.Experimentee said:He has bulked up a bit and grown some facial hair, now he doesnt resemble Henman so much! :d at his evil look
We'll be seeing him soon enough and as much as I like your bro, we are going to have to meet up at the AO.Experimentee said:No it cant be, he must be having whatever Nadal is having
His face doesnt look much like Henman, but he used to look like him from afar because of his similar build, hair and clothing. Now he seems not to look as skinny
