I agree it is cultural to view cats and dogs as near-human. What's the problem to follow your own culture when there is no harm caused to other people? The same cannot be said about eating virus carrying animals. And eating cats and dogs is only horrific from my point of view.
No problem with following your culture, I just think it's unfair to look down upon other cultures for eating certain animals while accepting eating other animals within your own culture. The good news for you is that eating dogs and cats is getting less and less common in China with the increasing prevalence of them as pets ??

@Chris Kuerten

Okay let's get rid of "gross" bit, the virus arrived from what they eat, no matter if it was delicious looking or disgusting, so that reason alone should be enough for consideration.

Afaik no virus appeared as a result of us eating cows/lambs/chickens.
There have been plenty examples of diseases, I remember this was a big thing when I was growing up (not a virus, but it spread to humans through eating cow meat): Bovine spongiform encephalopathy - Wikipedia

When you work with the animals you mentioned, you get warned of the risks for all kinds of diseases; leptospirosis, orf, etc.

I agree it's unfair to look down upon other cultures due to some sick mentality that your own culture is superior to the others. For myself I only condemn it for moral and hygenic reasons.
I don't have racist consideration and I doubt most MTF members have when criticising a non-white culture. From what I see people here just criticise things for what they are, with the exception of a few racist comments that come up once in a while. MTF and tennis is too international for that narrative I think. However, please carry on doing the good work against the small-minded if they ever come up.

Sure it must have been before, but much rarer compared to bats/dogs and stuff. And this virus came from wild animals which were present in the Wuhan marketplace.

Mainland China people, the way they exist right now should not be considered a part of our civilization. There is a humanity and there is China, different civilization. More or less mutually exclusive with ours.

If you so like totalitarian regimes why don't you just move there instead of endlessly BSing from the comfort of western freedom?

It's like when I see all those silly western kids wearing t-shirts with Che Guevara image on it. I'd invite them to live in Fidel regime of Cuba of the 80-ties for a few years. They would change their minds pretty quickly and sell all their pride to get back to their comfort capitalist lives.

LoL, what an ignorant comment. Im fine with Spanish capitalism so I live here, and I don't recommend comunist dictatorship for anyone unlike you.

Somalia isn't capitalism even, capitalism is what you enjoy in NL while callously and hypocritically supporting tirany for others far away. Your position is truly nauseating.

In your dreams, perhaps.
As I mentioned, China growth is by definition mutually exclusive with everyone's else. One of biggest - in my opinion - the single biggest achievement of Trump - that he successfully conveyed that message to other Americans and the world.
When he just started that - with tariffs and stuff - everyone was afraid and was against starting that. Now you won't find a significant voice in American politics that would not agree that America needs to take a stand against China. Among others Trump is now a peaceful dove. Most of Democratic candidates call for more than Trump is doing. In 2017 all of them were against doing anything at all.
This is really beautiful to watch.
Now China starts to getting hurt. Hongkong. Taiwan elections. World starting to pay attention to Uighurs. ASEAN countries finally doing something to take a stand in Sooth China Sea. Trump-Xi deal was a clear US victory. And just a first step. Just like after first Gorbachev-Reagan deal Reagan immediately took advantage of USSR showing a weakness and immediately pressed for more helping to develop the internal crisis.
I believe we can and we will destroy China the way it is right now.

And just for your ignorance. There is an important difference between Communism and Fascism. Communism is internationalist by definition. Fascism is very nationalist. China is very nationalist robbing its "friends" ( Pakistan, Venezuela, Zimbabwe ) to the end and with people having very natural petty bourgeois mentality. Guess what China really is? By its nature it is not anywhere your really socialist USSR or Cuba.

I hate China and KSA equally and incredibly, downfall of their bloody regimes would be glorious, hopefully I could live long enough to witness that moment.

China is really a fascist regime by the name 'comunist'. Anyway differences between those are secondary, their similarities are more fundamental.

Not in everything. I already mentioned nationalism difference.
Fascist regimes also tend to have much more sane economic approaches than communist regimes. They , in fact, might have an average record of economy growth superior to that of democracies. For obvious reasons.

Imagine sitting in Amsterdam NL (a country that never experienced a dictatorship), drinking beer, smoking weed and lecturing the poor people of China how happy they should be that they are oppressed by the big brother.
Those keyboard warriors are truly amazing. How good they are so smart and good at talking to their screens.

I think you mean the 90s, when I lived there. In the 80s Russia was still running the country and pouring in money. Immediately after they left, the 90s became known as the "special period" when the money dried up. Then Fidel had the bright idea of "hitting" on Venezuela.
