Verdasco only leaved Houston this afternoon (12h of flight and 7h of time zone difference), he will be in Monte Carlo just to collect the paycheck probably. :lol:

I only watched the highlights as I was at work but it looks like he hit some good shots today and from what I read, he played very well in the 1st set. Matches like this can be good for a player's confidence, especially as he had to dig deep and find a way to win today. Clay may be Fognini's best surface but Grigor has the game to beat him and he should go into the match with a lot of confidence.

Grigor looks like a player who is constantly switching and changing some aspects of his game - moments of brilliance combined with stupid errors. I really hope clay season is where he starts playing stable and reliable tennis, where he can improve and build his game and play his best on the grass.

Another impressive win today. It would be good if he can build on this and take down Wawrinka next.

Well, a win is a win. And when it is handed down to you on a silver platter as Wawa did today, the only criminal thing would be to turn it down, which thankfully Grigor did not do. Third match in a row, victory over a top-10 opponent, added confidence. All great things. And even if he fails next round to (what I expect to be) Fed, it bodes very well for the clay court season ahead.

Apparently, we have to be worried now that when Grigor plays (grinds) so well on clay, he will be shit during the grass season... His defensive style now would (according to experts) prevent him to master the creative and attacking skills required for the green surface. Some people are really clueless. Or they just slept throughout last season...
