I remember seeing highlights of the rematch one year later, a much more convincing win for Sampras, although he got broken serving for the match at 5-3 in the fourth set and then Chela donated his next service game to lose the match, much to his irritation.

Wow look at the 2002 R64 Stats for Pete:

Aces: 11
Double faults: 12

Chela:

Aces: 14
Double faults: 2

Holy crap Pete!

chela had some chances to win in the fourth, was very close then in the fifht he was tired and sampras stepped up his game
but a very young and unexperienced Chela was the better player from the baseline, sampras was helped a lot by his serve -as usual-

at the end, but not at the start of the match
Yes, there was 40 degrees and Sampras was exhausted in the 4th set. Apart from fast serves he had been showing poor play at the net & from the baseline. A deciding break of serve for Chela seemed like a matter of time but Sampras did a lucky break in the 12th game and the things were changed.

I remember this one
I didn't think for a second that Sampras would lose, but it was nice to see Chela give him a little trouble
