Kližan wasted plenty of BPs there. And he also made DF on a matchpoint in the tie-break.
BP conversion:
Kližan 4/17
Gombos 2/4

Gombos was leading *5-4, 40-15 in the final set and had several MPs in that game, but lost his service.

Gombos was in the final here last year. And he did not defend point from Vicenza either. So his ranking will fall quite a lot.

Just watched the end of that 3rd set.. Wow, that was a serious disaster from both. Noone wanted to win, pretty terrible. Gombos really can´t handle these crucial moments, it happens very often to him recently. Guy just selfdestructs himself and chokes like a girl, seriously. As for Klizan, not really a great display either. Very vulnerable, couldn´t get that rhythm going. I can´t see him winning this tournament unless he improves a lot all of a sudden.

Is not Klizan the far better player usually and yet he could only win in TB?
His form this year, so up and down. Wish him the best, he should improve a lot.

He was really red-hot before his wrist injury happened a month ago.. Right now, he´s kinda struggling, no doubt about that. Even he admitted that his confidence is not really there and he lacks the match-praxes recently. Added to that, this is a challenger tournament and Klizan really is prone to having a questionable attitude. No surprise that he didn´t look 100% focused here in R1.

That said a win is a win. Sometimes a close match like this can help you.. Let´s hope for it. He plays Laslo Djere in R2, that one he should win but it won´t be easy after that (against the guys like Lajovic, Granollers, Vesely etc..).
