Gicquel was up a break in the first and third sets and had 40-*15 to serve for the match at 5 all. Although Marco had leads, Kuznetsov was the better player in the match, but made a lot of bad errors. Marc served poorly with 11 double faults, but hit 12 aces and many unreturnable serves at crucial times.

In tie tiebreak, Kuznetsov led 5-*0 and 6-*3. He made two forehand errors and double faulted to make it 6 all. Gicquel then had *8-7 and played an extremely tentative point to lose his mini-break advantage. From that point, Kuznetsov simply played the braver tennis. Gicquel missed first serves, got tight and lost. Smashed the racquet all over the ground at the end.

These sorts of matches Marc always wins, he always bullshits his way to wins in challengers but he didn't this time. Kuznetsov has some bad history of choking so a big win for him in his career. Match lasted 3:02.

Horrible choking in the tiebreak but i am so glad for andrey to gut this out. He had a heartbreaking loss last week so 2 in a row would have been hard to recover from

Awesome racquet smash from Gicquel at the end.

Kuznetsov showed bigger balls in the end but he should never have been in that position at all. 6/7 6/2 6/2 would have been a truer reflection of the match.

Kuz has talent no doubt. He could probably benefit from a decent physical program. He looks like a malnourished kid from a Chernobyl orphanage.
