Medvedev right now is the worst top Player on clay. His only year 2019 was an outlier, even then only for two tournaments. Now, Murray used to be horrible on clay in his early years, but gradually he improved and learnt how to play and produce solid results on clay. Can Medvedev emulate Murray? Considering he's basically a Murray-Simon Prototype.

I doubt it. His movement is way worse than Murray's and that's key on clay.

Murray's record on clay was far better than Medvedev's, even in his worst clay years. He had 2 QFs and 2 SFs at RG before his breakthrough on clay in 2015, for example, and played some classic matches on the surface (e.g. SF vs Djokovic at Rome '11). This year has been his first R1 loss at RG since 2006, when he lost in five sets vs. Monfils in his debut appearance. Between '08 and '17, he never lost in the first round.

Medvedev has a lot more work to do. Four consecutive first round losses at RG is crazy and belies a far weaker baseline level.

Murray spent some time in a Spanish academy back when he was a teenager, dunno much about Medvedev's early days, but likely Murray had far better foundation.
