He can of course. Will he? He probably feels a lot of pressure being the heavy favorite, so I'm not so sure. I think a Frenchie will nab it.

I give him a good chance if he's wanting it. I wouldn't be surprised if he'll not give it all in the SF; to be fit for the AO.
Of course he's the big fav to wrap Sydney up.

If he doesn't tank he should win this. His way to win the final is quite easy: R2 Kubot, QF Baghdatis/Ebden, SF Lopez/Troicki. The final wpuld be tougher, against Isner or Gasquet.

Who cares? If he's in the Top 10 or if he's playing top 10 tennis are two different things.

Regardless of that...

seemingly any journeyman or hack that can string together a few back to back wins can make the top 10 now with the top 4 gobbling up all the points. Being in the top 10 means less now than it has ever meant.

Better question...will Del Potro be back in the top 5?

I think YES, but he will have to gain confidence in that wrist and begin to hit his forehand like he was pre-injury.

Hopefully not, Del Potro winning a slam and breaking into top 10 is one of the worst things that happened to tennis. He's a WTA ballbasher with male power. Horrendously bad player and overrated as hell.
