Embarrassing performance and scoreline. Pretty much all Chela did was run, hit the ball in, and occasionally counter-punch, but that's all he needed to do.

Anyway, hopefully Florent doesn't go on another tailspin and can take some positives from this week.

How is this embarrasing? A player of Serra's stature should be satisfied with one game.

Because Chela wasn't doing shit and Florent dictated most the rallies yet lost them.

lol chela is one of the most solid claycourt baseliners on tour right now. don't know which match you were watching but chela played great and hit consistent hard shots all over the court.

Chela was really sharp imo. Did everything well, hit the backhand dtl very effectively, some terrific dropshots, fought hard in defence. Very clearly here to win the tournament (since he's skipping entire Asian swing).

Serra simply lacks the firepower to damage Chela on a court like this, and it's difficult for him to strike the forehand early against the trajectory and depth Chela puts on it. Of course he lost focus and belief after going behind in both sets, but that was partly as a result of what was facing him - frankly, he had no way to beat Chela at this level.

Chela making the most of the last clay tournament. And once he wins the first round, it mostly leads to a final's weekend. Let's hope this time too. Tournament is his to be won.

Serra should seriously consider retiring. He's the most useless player on the entire tour.
