Goatpil happened in the 1st set and Youzhny was obviously no match for him, but then Chokepil folded in the end of the 2nd set, when he was broken in basically the only game Youzhny managed to do something on his serve. As usual, Marius ran out of gas in the 3rd set and the result became NID.

It's a shame Copil just can't become a consistent player and can't improve his fitness. He's more talented than at least a half of the current top 10 players. Amazing hands, huge serve and a lot of power from both wings.

Nice to see Colonel win again :yeah: Just a few more weeks and he's 5th all time for concecutive weeks in the top-100. Can't see him go below before that happens now.

Too bad Copil, that was a winnable match and he started so well. Hopefully he'll just try to play more ATP tournaments

After his good AO run, some posters on here were predicting big things for Marius this year but he seems determined to prove them wrong. It's a shame because he has a big game and is fun to watch but he's too mentally fragile. Tiriac will probably give him another WC into Madrid this year but I think he would be better off playing Challengers and earning his place in tournaments like this. Sometimes having a generous benefactor can work against you.

Top 100, yes. Top 10, uhm.

Consistency is also a talent :)

You know things are bad when everyone goes :worship: when Youzhny wins against a random mug.

Didn't actually watch this but Copil was holding serve for fun in the 1st set, thought Youzhny would have stuggled to come back in this one. Both Copil and Ungur seem in a serious slump.

Ughhhhh. So frustrating being this guy's fan. Losing to Oldzny after such a great start. :(
