Very high quality match.

Millman playing the match of his life. Everything he went for worked.

Millman up a break in the 2nd and had a real opportunity to close out the match.

Federer fought through. Raised level in 3rd and brought it home.

Great stuff from Millman, no doubt he will crack the top 100 at some point this year.

Millman caught Roger offguard playing 150% and ambushed Roger as it's his first match of the season, but even still Roger was just too good in the end. :yeah:

Sick match from Millman. Must be the best performance of his life. The way he maintained his level throughout the entire match was even more impressive than his god-mode IMO.

Not bad from Federer, good timing on the ball today and the surface helped. Tomorrow should be easier.

Millman playing like an absolute machine at the start of the match and start making a few more errors at the end.
Decent quality match overall and Roger was also quite good.

This is the proof that many players are top 50 material but being tired after a set and a half just brings them down. Gym is just as important as court practice.

Just how I feel, and I feel absolutely disgusted. So frustrating when these guys play well and then we never see them again. Just another guy getting in the way of Roger for like no fucking reason.
I hate this guy. He has the nerve to go for lines and hit because he knows he's playing the match of his life and he got so fucking LUCKY it's sick.
I fucking hate you.
Wow fuck off
This fucking guy probably wouldn't win 2 games out of Australia. Seriously annoying
Annoying clowns cheering for Millman.
You were a lot more adorable in the live commentary thread :haha:

Highly entertaining match. The fifth game of the third set (hold by Millman after 4 or 5 deuces) was top quality from both sides. Unfortunately the Aussie had nothing left in the tank after that. Seeing 33-yo Fed run like a rabbit to hit the forehand that gave him MPs, whereas 25-yo Millman was standing aghast, was kind of comical.

That was incredible. The crowd was fun (at first.) and Millman didn't look phased at all. Fed was in "early round" mode but was surprised with Millman's performance. Millman won the Set after some 2 poor shots by Fed in the FH side, which was struggling at the back court at times. Millman was awesome as he was firing FHs and BHs with depth yet with not much errors. The BH was sublime and some of the time even Djokovic like especially that BHDTL. Finally has broken Fed putting him in the best position serving first in the 2nd Set, but usually when player reaches their mission, they lose their edge, which happened to Millman. Fed started to netrush more to surprise Millman and Millman kind of didn't adapt much to it. Also started to become a little more passive. Fed won the 2nd Set after both held serves and Millman started to really show signs of fatigue. Had tough games on his last service game that he held as Fed started to really put additional pressure to Millman. After a chance to break Fed at 3-2* I think he failed and that is where the spiral began where after that I think he didn't win a game. Close for Fed but it was a good match to prep him up. For Millman, well he's 25, and just like Joao Sousa who was kind of that age when he began to really crack the Top 50, maybe he could too.

Good test for Fed to start off the season. Looked sharp in the 3rd and full flight after the break.
Thanks to the struggle it should give him a lot of information for the future.

Millman was super solid, even dealt with Federer's changing pace in some rallies. But a lot of the shots were make it or break it and this was the day he mostly made it, so I wouldn't look to much into this performance.
