Normally I'd include tiebreaks but men just play too many tiebreaks. They've each played many tiebreaks and all of them are in the positives for tiebreaks won/lost, I believe.

Every qualifier made the semifinal of a slam or better, so none of the players are completely unmerited in qualifying for Shanghai.

What do you think of the top eight players and the seasons they've had? What were the highlights to you, or any interesting trends you noticed?
I'm not sure if your top10 is right for federer.
He has lost x2 nalby, x2 nadal and x1 djokovic
Nalby was not top 10 when he beat Federer.
I'm just glad all 8 made at least one slam semi-final unlike last year when you had mugs like Blake and Robredo without a slam SF.
Richard is actually not that bad vs the top 10 this year, relatively. Hmm...

Good point.
I'd prefer to see Gonzalez out and Nalbandian in.

Gonzalez's best results are one optional title and runner up finishes in the Australian Open and Rome while Nalbandian at least won 2 Masters Series Events.

Multiple masters series winners should, second to grand slam winners (which can be kind of flukey, anyway), be allowed into Shanghai. I've never seen someone win two Masters in a year and beat top 10 players so handily and not qualify.
Nadal did the best at the Masters Events. He won three, finalist in two, semifinalist in one, and quarterfinalist in two others. His only poor AMS showing was in Cincinnati when he was badly injured anyway.

In general, he lost before the quarterfinals only three times, which is the most consistent among any top player this year. Way to go Nadal. :worship:
Of course anyone would want Nalbandian playing including me but he hasn't earned the points over the course of the year.

2008 = Nalbandian's year? Possibly.
Wow, this must be one of the few times in the history of the TMC that all qualifiers have made at least one GS semi-final during the year.
Will Nalbandian be going to Shanghai as the #1 Alternate?

Since winning in Paris has he expressed an interest in doing this?

He could stand a good chance of playing with Roddick perhaps being suspect and Davydenko being awful lately.
Updated with their results in Shanghai. Ferrer's top 10 stats went way up and Djokovic's went way down, obviously.

:wavey:
Fernando's season wasn't completely torrid.
