Was that first round loss at Newport? Arghhhh! I think that tournament was a good coming out party for him two years ago. But, he might want to give Newport a rest now. Yes, he can get face time with a lot of big wigs. But, if he can't produce at such a small tournament with a weak field, it becomes more of a liability than an asset.
I think a lot of people are noticing his slip as of late. A couple of posts on a thread on the mens' forum at wtaworld got me curious about Blake. I haven't found anything definitive in print. The press keeps harping on his bad temper as a kid and how he projects negativity on the court now. I've read suggestions of a new coach ala Brad and Andy and a psychologist.
I've come to the conclusion that he needs to get away from the circuit for a couple of months. I understand that top 30 was a great achievement for him. He got there pretty quickly and on natural ability. If he steps away from tournaments, he may be able to look at his personal situation in a more objective light. Does he want to try to get into the top 20/10? What specific plan is he capable of executing to give him the best chance of achieving these goals? But, first and foremost, he needs to go into semi seclusion.
