LOL, Eggy, when I saw this I immediately thought of Novak. I don't have anything against him but he really came out of nowhere, didn't he?

Roddick, methinks. He's in the Top Ten without really having achieved anything great (yet?).

Being an 'overachiever' like Hewitt, rather than an 'underachiever' like Ferrero~ what's wrong with that? Since Lleyton has managed to do more that everyone expected: 2 slams, 2 masters cup, 2 world no.1, Davis Cup, 17 titles... all at 21 years. The guy should be respected for proving that we create our own destiny. Others like Ferrero, Federer, Haas, Norman, Mark P, Rios etc. may regret not taking their chances when they're older & wiser - and retired!

I don't think anyone was critisizing overacheivers, so what exactly is your point?

Ferrero and Federer by the way, are still young. So perhaps wait till the end of their carreers to make calls like that. Or don't, and look silly later- your call

You can respect a player while being able to point out their short comings, btw. I thought this stuff was elementary and blatently obvious, but apparently one must point this stuff out so that people don't have boring blowouts about fuck all.

I don't totally agree about Hewitt btw. If you don't account for his biggest asset, which is his mental strength - yes, he's an overachiever. But if you account for it, he starts to make a little more sense. Tennis is 90% mental, or whatever the quote is, afterall.

Hello Rebecca - how's it going mate? Sorry, your quite right Ferrero & Federer are probably going to win some slams- maybe be late bloomers like Agassi(4slams won after 29yrs). The only point I was trying to make is that many people say that Hewitt is overrated, 'not a real No.1' or whatever. But really he's just making the most of the opportunities Life has offered him. Lleyton is mature enough to know that he can hold his head up high, even if he loses - since he always gives 100%. No regrets when all is said & done then. However many players seem content to be Top 10 & not challenge themselves to reach their potential. Anyway excuse me for being patriotic. ps. JC will win French this year & drop the 'chocker' tag.

CmonAussie - sorry for being so sensitive and anal sounding (I just read over my post and bllahhh lol).

If you ignore anything I wrote within a week following the Masters Cup final, I think that you will find that I agree with you about Hewitt.

Nalbandian shouldn't be in this list.
Why do you put him here? Just because he reached Wimbledon's finals and did nothing after it?
Come on, the guy is just 20, he has at least 9 more years, and he has a lot of talent.
First, watch him playing, ok? And don't take as reference just Wimbledon's final.....
I'm from South America, and I have watched him playing in many challengers, and he really is what he is, he's not an overachiever....

I think Henman should be out of the top 10. I like him and he's pretty consistent in tournaments. He doesn't win them, but also doesn't go out often in the 1st round. He is not going to win any slams except Wimby, if he ever wins it.

Ditto Ilhame, one stat really amazed me was the fact that Tim have been playing for the longest time and he has only won less than ten tournaments. And I was upset at Marat for winning only ten (or is it 11?) tourneys at this point in his career.

Marat has 11 titles in singles, 1 in doubles, he won in Liverpool which is just an exhibition tournament and has won DC.
