Which Grand Slam tournament featured the best collection of 8 players on that particular surface? Obviously, people talk about the current Big 4 and the number of times that they have been in Grand Slam QF and SF. But has there been a collection of 8 really good players on a particular surface over the last few years?

My all time pick for best 8 quarterfinalists on a surface might be Wimbledon 1992. Here were your QF:

Sampras: 7 time Wimbledon champion
Becker: 3 time champion; 4 other finals
Edberg: 2 titles; 1 other final, 2 titles at the Australian Open on grass
McEnroe: 3 time champion; 2 other finals
Ivanišević: 1 title; 3 other finals
Agassi: 1 title; 1 other final
Stich: 1 title (beating peak Edberg and Becker in the SF and F)
Forget: Obviously the weak link, but did make the Wimbledon QF in 1991, 1992, and 1994 (injured in 1993)

AO 2010, AO 2012, RG 2012 and AO 2014 were pretty good.

Sorry but do you even understand what you just wrote? 1992 Wimbledon right? so why you wrote Sampras 7x champion, was he at that time? if we are thinking bout lineup we must see who was there and how good he was back than not wat his career achievements where, Ivanisvec back than also wasn´t such Wimby beast how he became over the years

About last slams, in last 5 years i think we have multiple slams with all or 3/4 big 4 at their best or good level and QF were guys like Berdych, Tsonga, Delpo, Ferrer - all top 10 and playing great, we have many great QF line-ups in last 5-6 years i think will check later which one was strongest on paper

We have had many GS QFs with many of the Big 4 and Little 4, but having all of those 8 players in QFs never happened. Here are the Slams with at least 5 members of the Big 4 + Little 4 in QFs :
AO 2008 : 5 out of 8 (no Murray, no del Potro, no Berdych)
USO 2008 : 5 out of 8 (no Tsonga, no Ferrer, no Berdych)
AO 2009 : 5 out of 8 (no Murray, no Ferrer, no Berdych)
AO 2010 : 5 out of 8 (no del Potro, no Ferrer, no Berdych)
W 2010 : 6 out of 8 (no del Potro, no Ferrer)
AO 2011 : 6 out of 8 (no del Potro, no Tsonga)
W 2011 : 5 out of 8 (no del Potro, no Ferrer, no Berdych)
USO 2011 : 5 out of 8 (no del Potro, no Ferrer, no Berdych)
AO 2012 : 7 out of 8 (no Tsonga)
RG 2012 : 7 out of 8 (no Berdych)
W 2012 : 5 out of 8 (no Nadal, no del Potro, no Berdych)
USO 2012 : 6 out of 8 (no Nadal, no Tsonga)
AO 2013 : 6 out of 8 (no Nadal, no del Potro)
RG 2013 : 5 out of 8 (no Murray, no del Potro, no Berdych)
W 2013 : 5 out of 8 (no Federer, no Nadal, no Tsonga)
AO 2014 : 6 out of 8 (no del Potro, no Tsonga)
RG 2014 : 5 out of 8 (no Federer, no del Potro, no Tsonga)

1983-1984 Roland Garros were both pretty solid. In both cases only one top 8 seed - Clerc #7 in '83 and #8 in '84, did not make it to the QF.
Unseeded Chris Roger-Vasselin was there instead in 1983 to face #1 seed Connors in the QF.
Other QF's in '83 were: #3 Lendl vs. #6 Yannick Noah, #8 Higueras vs. #4 Vilas, #5 Wilander vs. #2 McEnroe with Noah winning it all.

QF's in '84 were: #1 McEnroe vs. #5 Jimmy Arias, #3 Connors vs. #9 Henrik Sundström (instead of Clerc), #6 Noah vs. #4 Wilander, #7 Gomez vs. #2 Lendl, with Lendl winning it all.

Respectfully,
masterclass

That was an interesting case seeing that the tournament that time was pure chaos with the upsets and funny that 5 of them still have reached the QFs (with the twist however that only Djokovic is the remaining Wimbledon titlist that time I think and only having 1 Wimbledon on his name).

If AO stayed on grass Goran would make it more Slam finals and titles, so this list would be even better.

In 1992, Becker, Edberg, Stich, and Forget were at or pretty close to their grass court peaks. Agassi won his only Wimbledon title in 1992, so this was either his grass court peak or close to it. Ivanišević might have improved some on grass after 1992, but he was already a pretty great grass court player, having made the SF in 1990. And just look at his performance in 1992: beating Lendl in R16, Edberg in QF, and Sampras in SF before losing to Agassi in 5 sets in the final. Sampras was only a year away from hitting his grass court stride in 1993, but he still was able to crush defending champ Stich in straight sets. The only player out of the 8 who was significantly removed from his peak was McEnroe.

Kind of amusing how it'd be impossible to name a draw from 2004-07. The dark ages.
Australian Open 2004 quarter-final line up was excellent, as well as in 2005.

only because it's an age in which a player won more in a 3-4 year period than had ever done before

you can't name another similar period of dominance, which explains the drought of surrounding champions

So you're talking hindsight only? Sampras was not considered anything special on grass in 1992, that came later. Agassi certainly wasn't considered anything special on grass either. Plus, of course, McEnroe was over the hill, eight years after his last slam.

In this view, any recent draw should improve with the future victories the guys will manage to get. This year's Wimbledon could be great if Dimitrov, Raonic and Kyrgios all turn out to be future winners.
