Wow, interesting news.

Weird that Berdych seems to want to emulate Murray so much - already tried to get Lendl, now he picks up Danny. Or maybe he just hopes to have a familiar set up that wil tempt Lendl to return to coaching

Lendl and Vallverdu are said to be close.

Lendl has a very strong relationship with Vallverdu. In a recent interview about the two years he spent coaching Murray, he told this newspaper that “You guys don’t understand how much I relied on Dani.”

(...)

As previously reported in these pages, they got off to a bad start with Mauresmo when she was appointed with no consultation or even warning, and Vallverdu in particular never managed to build a working relationship with her.

At the end of the season both men decided that enough was enough, and told Murray that they had given all they could to his cause. Green has since been working with Alexander Zverev, the highly talented German 17-year-old, who is one of the players being pursued by Adidas as possible replacements for Murray when the Scot's kit deal finishes at the end of the year.

Maybe just what Tomas needs to shake things up a little :cheerleader:

Are there any other coaches on tour who are younger than the player? Berdy is 29, and Vallverdu is 28
Joao Sousa's coach (Frederico Marques) is also 28, but Sousa is only 25.

There was an article in the New York Times last week talking about how Murray may well be the most influential player of his generation, because all of the top players are copying him by hiring former champs as coaches. Berdych taking that one step further by hiring members of Murray's team!

Let's discuss this if/when the top 4 all have women as coaches.
