Off topic but must be said:

Rafa's USO now sits a lot better with me now that his opponents "officially" vindicated his loss, proved their strength, showed that Nadal only lost due to horror draw and subsequent time on court leading to injury.

Lovely ballstriking by the Georgian. He lost a game serving for the match, but then played amazing tennis to broke Edmund again. He will probably lose to Delpo, but this season is huge for him.

Kyle is disappointing recently. His great FH and serve combo disappeared since the clay season. Today he was completely outpowered by Basilashvili.

How is one over ranked? He had a fortunate AO run, thats it. So take that into account, and you'll feel more at peace.

Well since AO he's reached a final at 250 level, two 3rd rounds at grand slams and a few quarters finals at 500 level. Not amazing and not going to get him knocking on the top 10 door anytime soon but considering he started the year just in the top 50 it's been a good year.

Does need to end this season strongly though as he will lose a load of points from next AO so that's why a result like today is frustrating although Basha was simply better at key moments.

:yeah:

Don't think Edmund should have been the favourite here though. Hardly beat non-de Witt-Basilashvili at the AO (where he was pretty overrated by the bookies too), don't think this is a favourable match-up for him at all.

Basilashvili has a real nice game to watch, when he is focused like he is since he won in Hamburg, he could surely be part of the top 20, his recent results have been very good and he played an excellent match at the US Open against Nadal. Very good that he confirms that his title was not a one shot.

His level of play has been way below his current ranking is what I meant. Besides that AO run he hasn't done anything.
