Better than the Ramos match...He found a bit of his usual range on FH starting from 5-3 in 1st set..From therein he moved better and returned much more crisply..Still need to cut on UEs..Almagro will be tougher out as his Clay game is notch or two above Dodig

Re: Barcelona R3: (1) Nadal routines Dodig 6-3, 6-3

Dodig didn't play a smart game at all, kinda pushed. Got killed deservedly. Unlike vs Ramos, Nadal was never in danger, but still unimpressive

If he losses to Almagro then we should be worried.

Rafa was a bit better then last game. Thats improvement. Dodig never posed a threat.

Almagro will be harder. But will be good for him.

This was as expected.
Now I think Nadal will probably come through some sort of epic back-from-the-death experience against Almagro next, and then go on to curb-stomp everyone throughout the rest of European Clay.
This sort of underdog overcomes all storyline will just add to his legend, don't you think.

Except that Nadal hasn't been an underdog on clay since 2004.

Any rational person knows that. But it's also a fact that due to his particular psychology, Nadalito needs to believe he is an underdog fighting against all odds to play really well.
Acoording to him and and his camp his opponent has been the favorite in literally every single match over his career.

And now his fans have jumped onto the bandwagon, hysterically pearl clutching and weeping into their beer as if he is in some sort of career ending slump, where the truth is he has already reached 4 finals (INCLUDING THE AO) this year winning two of them, and retains a comfortable 3000 point lead as world #1

Great victory, almost as good as beating Montanes on grass. Rafa is back

I don't think I've ever seen you say something positive about Nadal gameplay after a win, regardless of circumstances

Re: Barcelona R3: (1) Nadal routines Dodig 6-3, 6-3

Slow result thread = Nadal wasn't terrible. Better than yesterday with his FH looking more reliable and he dictated his patterns from very early in the match today whereas he was more tentative early yesterday. Of course, Ramos is a lefty clay courter whereas Dodig is neither of those, so today's performance comes with a a grain of salt. FH was better but still not rock solid, his crosscourt BH was effective when he used it but that wasn't often and his droppers and net play actually seemed a bit worse today than they've been the past few weeks. There was also the now seemingly obligatory donation immediately after breaking. He'll pay for that against stronger opposition.

Not much to say about Dodig as it was a horrendous matchup for him in these conditions. His touch around the net was about the only memorable positive I took from his performance.

Almugro can easily take out this version of Dull but he won't

Its Goatdig's worst surface so expected result.
