Superior execution after first serve - 89% is a awesome stat.
Robredo did nothing to win this. Match on Klizan's racquet.

Real rankings prevailing once again. :worship: :worship:

11 service games, 11 holds for Klizan on the Spanish clay against Robredo. That´s seriously amazing stuff. His serve looks better than ever, his forehand as good as ever and his net play is unreal (he´s becoming a very solid doubles player too, so no coincidence). Damm´s influence is really visible here. His defense is still kinda mediocre but when he attacks like this, it isn´t that big of a problem.

As for Robredo, well.. he lost to a better player today but still some unnecessary uncharacteristic errors from him. Should´ve converted one of those break chances in the 1st set and the match could be different. Sometimes he was just overpowered by Klizan´s serve/forehand and therefore he was missing long. His return was just bad today.

Klizan looks serious though. Nishikori is gonna be too much for him but he can do some further damage on upcoming clay tournaments. He´s gonna climb even higher in the rankings.

Robredo had opportunities but didn't take them. Klizan had a great TB start but made it tough on himself from 6-0 to 6-5. Lucky he closed it 7-5. After that the lone break decided the match. Klizan has a game to give Kei a decent clay court battle but this time round, Nishikori has a full bill of health.

Klizan always had a big game and he looks like top 10 material at the moment and I love his forehand. He just needs to stay consistent but that's easier said than done. We need more left handed players in the top 10. Lopez won't get there so let's goooooooooooooo Klizan!!!!!!!!!!!:worship:

 There was nothing he could do against a better player.

Such BS. He had the better W-UE-stats. He was the better player for the majority of the match and is the much better player in general.

Too bad that there weren´t forced errors included. Especially those unreturned serves. Also your statement about "much better" player is weird now. With all the respect to Robredo´s career, Klizan is having a better season than Tommy actually. He´s just a more powerful player of the two and he really showed it today. Say what you want but it was a deserved win after all, even though Robredo wasn´t without his chances in the 1st set.

As for Somby´s facepalming.. well, it´s understandable as he was predicting Robredo´s win in 2 sets.

Klizan of course deserved to win and was the better player today, but how is that statement weird? Robredo is a former Top 5 player and won a TMS, Klizan's achievements do not compare to that.

Well, now this sounds different. Your original comment was claiming something else. You were claiming that Robredo was the better player for the majority of the match, now you´re admitting that Klizan was the better player today.

Also, career is one thing (I respect Robredo a lot, great career & still a very good player) but actual reality is another thing. Nowadays, it´s very debatable who the better player of the two is. Really a 50-50 matchup in my books, with Klizan slowly but surely getting the edge. And it´s not meant like a knock on Robredo.

Er no he wasn't- Klizan hit more winners.

I did mean better player in the match and in terms of weapons. Not better career overall.
